Lake Kawaguchiko is one the the Mt Fuji 5 Lakes. It's very convenient to travel from Tokyo by train, highly suggested to get a Tokyo pass and reserve the seat. Also, it's highly recommended to rent a bike, the best way to travel around the Lake. There are many nice cafes and restaurant around the Lake area.

For anyone with an interest in textiles this is a must see. Take the time to watch the short film first to understand what you are looking at as the techniques used are incredibly complex. I had never seen anything like it. Every piece is a work of art. It is quite a story of a person following their passion and perfecting it. The gardens and shop are lovely as well.

Awesome Aokigahara forest and cave tour! We joined the tour in mid of December, that day was only two of us so we feel very exclusive and special. The guide pick us up in cable car station which is very convenient, the tour is around 4 hours. After change the gear in the office, it's about 25 mins drive and we stop by to the toilet where the Mt fuji view was beautiful. Then we continue the journey, the guide took us to Aokigahara forest walk, it was so quiet and peaceful, she is very professional, polite and knowledgeable. There is no path in the forest, the surface was uneven but it's safe and easy. We need to walk down to the cave, the rocks are slippery, uneven and very dark. They provided the protective overall and headlight to us, so we can still see and walk safely inside the cave. It's really exciting because the cave is not the normal tourist spot that everyone can go in, we walked deeper into the cave for about 20 mins and was the best experience we had. It's not the normal Mt Fuji sightseeing tour most people do, if you are thrill seeker and love to explore, you will love this tour. Advise: Need moderate fitness level, need to walk and climb up and down on uneven ground, and don't afraid of getting dirty, wet and dark. Need a good pair of hiking shoes -that is proper hiking shoes. I found it abit challenging to walk down the cave as it's quite slippery, lucky we both wear hiking shoes. After the tour, the guide drive us back to the train station which was really convenient, and plus she took very good photos for us during the tour! We love it and highly recommended this tour!

Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway

Reviewed By IanS4790

Nice trip up on the cable car. Lovely views of the lake and mountains, and the park at the top is very nice too. Though what made it more delightful was the scary/morbid story that they illustrate throughout the place. The story of the Racoon and the Rabbit is the theme of this place (it includes murder, revenge and torture but looks like a kids story – only in Japan ;) We spoke to one person at the Ropeway who had very good English who explained the story to us. It is worth hearing, but maybe not a good one to teach your kids.
