Malolotja Nature Reserve

With 26 waterfalls, hills and pristine forests, the reserve offers top scenery and opportunity to see numerous animals and rare birds.

Reviewed By MartinHerbst - Johannesburg, South Africa

The Malolotja Reserve has it's own unique beauty compared to the other SNTC or BGP reserves in the country. The canopy tour is highly recommended. Cost is E695 per person which includes a bottle of water afterwards as well as sandwiches at the restaurant. The trip is well organised, extremely safe and well worth it for the views. Total time approximately 3 hours. Highly recommended.

Swazi Cultural Village

Reviewed By iolandaa21 - Lisbon, Portugal

This was an extraordinary experience as to what the daily life of the Hlane community is about, as well as an initiation to the Swazi culture and traditions. We partook in several of the activities, which comprised grinding the maize, braiding wicker baskets, learning some Swazi words and dancing (in separate gender groups). An absolute MUST if one wants to "learn" a little bit more beyond what can be learned in books.

Mantenga Nature Reserve

Reviewed By 341debb - Sydney, Australia

By researching extensively prior to leaving Australia we wanted our friends (19 in total) to experience the best of swazi culture and we were not disappointed. It started with a truly magnificent performance by singers and dancers who took our breath away and then asked some of the young adults present to dance. The finale was the guided walk around the village and then a short walk to the Mantenga Falls. A big yes to add this to your trip in Swaziland.

Hlane Royal National Park

Reviewed By kiwiboyLondon - Skipton, United Kingdom

Hlane is a wonderful park with plenty to see. We were staying for two days in Bhubesi camp and saw plenty of animals both self driving and on a game drive. The highlight was the rhinos which came within metres of our car but on the game drive we also saw lions close up as well as elephants playing in the waterhole. Aside from the big animals there are also tortoises, monitor lizards, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles and a wealth of other discoveries. To top it all off the staff were very friendly and the food in the restaurant was delicious. Well worth staying a couple of days to enjoy.

It is said the candle makers around here use an ancient technique "Millefiori", which surfaced in ancient Alexandria and was later perfected by the glass creators in Murano. The reality is they are beautifully intricate in colour and design. One can actually see one of the candle makers mastering his art prior to heading to the shop that displays a huge variety of candles of all shapes and colours. Once you walk out there are quite a number of other craft shops worth exploring.

Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary

Reviewed By 400kayl - Kaohsiung, Taiwan

LOCATION   Conveniently located near the capital of Eswatini Mbabane, this wildlife reserve has abundant birdlife and a modest collection of grazers. The crocs and hippos seem to be evasive, which perhaps is sometimes a good thing. Adult ticket entrance fee is 40E.    HISTORY   Ted Reilly in 1961 installed the countrys’ first hydropump, thus becoming the first location with electricity. His original residence has been preserved and functions now as a lodge at the top of Reilly’s Rock Hilltop.   ACTIVITIES   The reserve is small and easy to access most areas by car. There are a few roads going to the rocky hills which require 4x4, but provide no greater advantage in terms of animal sightings. We visited on a weekend day for about 3-4 hours, which gave more than enough time to navigate and circumvate the area while gawking at the warthogs, zebra, impalas, kudus and nyalas.   Safari tours, horseriding, swimming, biking, walking trails and other activities are available. Camp sites, Beehive huts available for accommodation. There is a curio shop at the campsite and a lovely picnic area with bbq facilities. The outdoor pool has a shallow and deep end (2m), a perfect place to splash after the heat and sun outdoors.    FOOD   (See review on Hippo Haunt Restaurant.) Hippo Pool is a awesome place to relax amongst chirping birds and the fishes (catfish, barbell, bream) and terrapin wading near the decks.   SUMMARY   Family-friendly wildlife resort/camp with many activities for any Sunday drive or a few days with nature.
