Through unique exhibitions, vibrant and varied live music performances, and innovative educational programs, the Museum shares the accomplishments and impact of the people who make, sell, and use musical instruments and products. When you step into the galleries (and back in time) you’ll see outstanding examples of musical instruments, many of them displayed in vintage music store settings. You’ll also hear some familiar tunes in audio and video clips, have many hands-on opportunities to pick up and play a variety of instruments, and discover the innovative ways that the music industry has grown over the years.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful little museum that featured historical instruments and samples of the music of the times. What was most fun was the areas where guests were free to play instruments ranging from banjos and guitars to theramins and organs that sounded like full orchestras.

South Carlsbad State Beach

This nearly five-mile stretch of beach is popular with families but also draws surfers and skin divers to the water and runners and cyclists to the boulevard bordering the beach.

Although the sand is wet because of high tide in the evenings, still a very fun, clean beach. We were able to check out sand toys and a boogie board from our hotel (SeaPointe Resort), which made it even more fun. Beware though, the water is COLD.

The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch

Open in Spring from March 1st through Mothers Day. For over sixty years, Mother Nature has transformed the rolling hills of North San Diego County into one of the most spectacular and coordinated displays of natural color and beauty anywhere in the world. The nearly fifty acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers that make up The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch® in Carlsbad, California, are in bloom for approximately six to eight weeks each year – from early March through early May – literally bringing the famous fields back to life. This annual burst of color, which has become part of the area’s local heritage, also is one of nature’s official ways of announcing the arrival of spring here in Southern California.

The Flower Fields of Carlsbad is a must visit when you are in North San Diego County. Every spring the flowers are in full bloom and it is wonder to see by air or in the fields up close and personal. There are wagon rides through the fields or you can walk through and take a picture in designated spots with all the flowers around you. When I have visitors here in the spring. I always take them there and they are astounded by the beauty and when they come back for a visit they always want to go back!

Everything is awesome... at Legoland California if you are 7 or under. :) Our youngest had a blast here, the rides made him feel grown up without being too adventurous (5 roller coasters, and the only one that can go upside down can be set to the riders' preference and doesn't have to go upside down!). We especially enjoyed the Dragon Coaster, Technic Coaster, and the Ninjago video game ride, which reminded us of Toy Story at the Disney properties. Lines were relatively short (30 minutes-ish) for rides. Our older kid, age 12, was a bit old for this park. Tickets were less expensive purchased in advance online, and cost less to get the 2-day pass than the 1-day pass. Parking costs extra when you arrive at the park. The lego displays in the park are really neat and we spent some good time exploring the cities and Star Wars displays. We really enjoyed the food, we ate at the Pizza/Pasta buffet (great for hungry older kids!) as well as the Fun Town Urban Kitchen for meals, and also got some ice cream from the Castle Ice Cream place. Kids eat for free after 5pm, if you can stay that long.
