Visiting Bhimashankar Jyotirling Temple is an yearly trip for us friends, We generally do the 6-8 hours trek from Karjat to the temple through the forests but decided to do a Road trip to reach the temple this time, We started out from Borivili in Mumbai and it took us 5 hours and thirty minutes to reach the Temple, We took the left after the Talegaon Toll naka and joined the GPS - this took us to a shorter but scenic route to the temple, this is advisable for travel buffs with a decently strong car or sub as half the way your won’t find a proper road as roads are still being built in the area, But as a compensation for the hard ride for you and your vehicle you will witness the entire Bhimashankar valley in all it’s natural glory, cool winds, lot is rivulets in between, scenic shots of the mountain and valleys, friendly villager folks all along the way, While coming back we took the longer Manchar route back - Bhimashankar - Manchar - Pune - Chakan - Mumbai Pune Expressway. The Temple is a nationally renowned temple and is one of the Jyotir lings, which are must visit lord Shiva temples spread all across India, this one temple is very ancient, the temple complex is itself situated down in the valley and there are lots of steps to go down, The temple is a must visit in the winters and people should try the trek routes and the drive routes at least once.

Saptshringi nivasini mata is represented by a huge idol with 16 hands. Her Aura instantly attracts. We went there from Nasik on the way to Saputara. Road.is good. Ride to hill top is very smooth and approach road is excellent. There was huge rush and took us 2 hours even with the funicular. No social distancing in the Corona times, even though they insist on mask. Funicular is really a well maintained a well operated boon for the devotees. Its not a Rodeway but railway i think. I was carrying my mother who is 72 year old and physically frail. There is an arrangement for wheel chair along with escort for senior citizen with extra cost of INR100, which makes Darshan quite easy for them. Funicular rate is now INR 100 PP.

Reached from Mumbai to Kudal by train and connecting bus to Malvan which is about 30 km away. Another bus for Devbag which is about 10 km away. The name Tarkarli is derived from the river Karli which flows in the area. Tar means the river side. Every house here is involved directly or indirectly with tourism industry. Most families have built few rooms for the tourists to occupy- home stay. They prepare home food and serve to the tourists. Beach cottages plentiful. Here people are very good and helpful. Beach is neat and clean with sea water transparent. Hotels here want the customers to book food in advance and then they prepare for the order, there by serving you fresh food. Choice of food is generally limited. Few hotels like Coastal Galaxy has good food choices. One can enjoy water sports at Tsunami island which is reachable by ferries which charge about Rs 500 for the cruise. They take you around for half an hour's journey showing you the Dev sangam the mingling of sea and the river. Here on Tsunami island one can take various rides like Water skiing, banana ride, sofa ride etc for Rs 200 each or package of Rs 500 for three rides. There is also provision for para sailing and scuba diving for which charges are about Rs 800 and Rs 1000 respectively. Walk on the Devbaug beach is very pleasant. One can safely go in the water and enjoy neat and clean water. It's so transparent that you can see the sand below. Sunset scene here is magnificent. One can enjoy the sunrise scene at Tarkarli beach which is about 3 km from Devbaug. Here various camel and horse rides are available. Coconut trees are plentiful. Coconut water here is much sweeter than what one gets in Mumbai. Sindhudurg fort can be reached from Malvan. For reaching it, one has to take a small boat ride which charges Rs 90 per head. Rock garden at Malvan is nicely managed. It's worth a visit. Good time to visit is December January. At Malvan one can enjoy the local delicacy Malvan Khaja. Today i visited jivdani temple, i took a 5.41am dahanu local from Dadar. Its good if you start early. It took exactly 1 hour to reach virar. From virar east outside station you get share auto to the temple for rs.10 inr per person. As you reach the base their is a ganesha temple. It's a custom to visit Ganesha whenever you start something good.To reach the temple you need to climb 1400 steps. it's bit tiring.I saw people climbing the steps on their knees to complete their religious vows also called "navas" in marathi and "mannat" in hindi language. Once you climb this 1400 steps you reach the temple. Its very relaxing over here.Once you come out on the exit you have mahakali and kalbhairav temple.Again need to get down this 1400 steps but here you don't feel the stress. As you get down you have some small time eateries to have something and quench your thirst.Even the temple trust runs a small time eatery which gives 2 dilis and chutney for INR Rs.5/-.Overall it's a must visit place which can be a Sunday outing in itself.
