This famous church dates back to the early Spanish colonial era. The Church was founded by the Augustinian friars since their arrival in 1565. You could also find in the church the miraculous image of Sto. Nino (Child-Jesus).
my ritual in visiting this holy place is to light some candles outside and spend time inside the church for my prayers. i love the feeling everytime i’m here.

This museum looks at local life in the 1800s.
I really loved the place! I like how everthing was well preserved and taken care of. The museum showcased a lot of historical events and facts, and kept the antiques in place. Also, the tour guides were really accomodating and were very knowwledgeable.

Must visit while in Cebu - even better than Ayala centre in Manila!! Ayala's point of difference is high quality without jamming as much commercial shops into the property as possible. Instead, they leave space and existing trees and landscape it so there is a large tranquil space, the Terraces, to relax and get away from all the hustle of a big city Great mall shopping and the highlight is the Terraces with space in the shade to relax and enjoy looking at the big trees, shrubs and waterfalls. It has the usual variety of food outlets, national & local.

Jaro Cathedral is a prominent symbol of Catholic faith of the Ilonggos. Here, you can find the famous Our Lady of Candles or the " Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria" which is enshrined on the second floor of the cathedral outside of the church. Her feast is celebrated every 2nd of February. It is the first Marian National Shrine and it is one of the most celebrated feasts by the Ilonggos where masses are held from 4:30 in the morning until 7:00 in the evening on an hourly basis. History tells that the original church was destroyed by an earthquake Caycay in 1948 and was later repaired in 1956 by the first Archbishop of Jaro, the late Arch. Jose Maria Cuenco. Furthermore, it is also the first Marian image canonically crowned personally by the Pope and saint, Pope John Paul II.

Simala Shrine tour was really not part of our itinerary, but since my mother can't make a 30min walk to Kawasan falls, we went here instead. As we approach the gate, we were amazed as we see its castle-like facade, with arcaded corridors, aqueduct-like bridge connecting the garden to the shrine. The structure is also PWD-friendly, with ramps placed everywhere. Inside the shrine was a chapel, a praying area where colored candles lit, and a museum where testimonies of healed and answered prayers are kept and displayed. By the way, before going inside, bear in mind that proper attire is strictly implemented. Men wearing sando or tank top with shorts and slippers, and women wearing spaghetti straps, with very short shorts and slippers are not allowed. But if you're already worn shorts, don't worry! There are vendors outside the gate that will let you rent their shawls for Php20! If you're a Marian devotee and for Catholics who are "sagrado katoliko" I really recommend visiting the place. It will make your faith stronger as you see the evidences of the healed and answered prayers, and the people offering candles, roses and prayers to the pictures, portraits and sculptures of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Loved the native chocolate! Entrance is good for a no-time-limit tour after the guide has introduced you to every nooks and crannies of the historical mansion. You can stay as long as you want to enjoy the native chocolate and biscuits. There were also brochures that were handed out for free that you can read while examining closely every antique housewares that are no longer used nowadays. There were displays of various merchandise at the entrance from food to accessories to scarves. I bought two nice beaded necklaces. My friends and I took time chatting while enjoying the picture taking inside the house. A must-visit for lovers of history.

It was my last day and I invited my husband to go to an anticipated Mass at Molo Church. Beyond our expectations, the Church reflects the Spanish influence and the beautiful altar provides honor to St. Anne, Mama Mary's mother who I have learned to invoke for help and intercession. Attending the 5:00 p.m. Mass we were impressed with the beautiful Church interiors from the ceiling to the main altars. The grounds infront of the Church were also quite interesting with the Plaza and the beautiful grounds providing a park for the tourists and the locals. Beside the Church is also the Convent which provides one with a glimpse of the buildings during the Spanish times. It is made of huge cobblestones and cement that lasted over a hundred years.

Home to thousands of vintage glass pieces mostly from the Depression Era in the United States, the Vintage Glasses Museum in Bacolod City is a unique and eccentric shrine to anything glass collected in a span of 30 years when the owner, Tomas Claridad Casiano worked as a butler for a Hollywood movie director and eventually opening his own flower shop for Beverly Hills royalty where he procured unique glasses for his flowers. When he came home to the Philippines, he brought home 66 boxes full of his glass collection and opened the museum as his home was too small for his crystal obsession. His most prized possessions include wine glasses from Queen Victoria's court, a 1915 whisky decanter made for Ford Motors, glass decanters owned by Nancy Reagan, a Russian czar's goblet and glasses made with uranium! Can't recommend this place enough! They only open by appointment so make sure to make reservations first!
