Cultura Winery

Reviewed By garysU5371ZU - London, United Kingdom

On our 4 week USA road trip we stopped by in Zillah to sample red wines at Cultura. We were greeted by both Sarah and Tad Fewel who run and own Cultura. Both very passionate about their wines. Sampled six wines and brought three home to UK. Would have brought a case but transport a bit tricky. Small friendly up and coming winery. Don't tell everyone about it or there will be no wine left for me.

Northern Pacific Railway Museum

The museum depicts the era of the Northern Pacific Railway in its earlier years. We have early steam locomotives, freight cars used at the turn of the century, and passenger cars of the North Coast Limited on display. Docent tours are recommended and require a reservation so a representative can be available.

This is a surprise - we went during Christmas and they had model trains running of all sizes AND we rode on a real train in a caboose AND they had hands-on wooden play sets for young folks AND they had food AND they had Santa. The model trains that were on display and running are overwhelmingly entertaining. I have no idea how 2 hours elapsed. I wish I had thought to take more photos, I was too busy having fun. This is a worthwhile destination and it stands on it own, it is worth going to specifically, travel to this town just to see this? Yes! This review will fade into oblivion as other, newer, reviews take it's place, but since you're here why don't you add a nice rating if you have some nice words to say (and remember what your Mom always said, "If you have nothing nice to say don't say anything"). Great to see businesses thrive in the Yakima area. Let's support Things To Do here just by being Yakima-friendly.

Kiona Vineyards and Winery

We plant grapes. We grow grapes. We make wine. We sell wine. All on Red Mountain. And all as a family. Come taste wine.

Kiona boasts the oldest vines in the Red Mountain AVA. If you are looking for excellent, bold reds this is a great place to sample wine. My husband and I even joined their wine club, it was that good. Highly recommend their Heart of the Hill if you like a good Cab. Their Reserve cabernet is excellent as well.

So many great wines. When we are in the area, we always stop here for the fantastic wine and to see Paul the owner. Large selection of wine to choose from, something for everyone, and the tastings come with great conversation. Looking forward to our next trip in April with the RV this time and staying in his beautiful vineyard through our Harvest Host membership. It's time to replenish our Portteus supply at home. Highly recommend you stop by when near Zillah.

Terre Blanca is a vineyard that certainly for everyone is a MUST SEE when on the Red Mountain!! The view here looking north back toward Yakima is a one in a million view!!!! Simply outstanding!!!! Sitting out on the wine terrace, looking down on their beautiful pond and scanning your eyes up to the mountains and then to the side for the valley is awesome!!!!! Daryl Baker was our server and right now he gets my vote as the MOST KNOWLEDGEABLE server we have had on this wine sojourn!!!!!! He had unbelievable stories about the makings of each wine, the nuances of each wine, and regaled us time and time again with his expertise!!! We loved him!!!! He should start his own wine touring company and become more accessible to the general public on releasing more information on how to enjoy and love wines even more!!!! I bought two great private wine releases from him to enjoy back in Ohio on a charming lake in Morrow County!!!!!! Terre Blanca is no doubt a MUST SEE for the Red Mountain…. And it’s funny!! A lot of wineries here are must see but this really is a MUST SEE!!!!!!!!!

My wife and I love to take people here. It is such a great winery to visit. Such a great facility and the people there are always so friendly and amazing. We went there on our anniversary just to sit out back and have a bottle of wine, while viewing the valley!
