Kikugetsu-tei

Located in the middle of Ritsurin Park, a very authentic Japanese tea room. Open sitting area with scenic window looking over to the ponds and trees in park. Ordered Matcha with Japanese snack as compliment, the color matches Iris displayed in the room. Very pleasant tea break experience.

Busshozan Onsen Tempyoyu

Reviewed By BuccaneerDave - Nanaimo, Canada

Pondering what to do for a day in Takamatsu area and we stumbled upon walking around Busshozan. Bought our day pass at the Kotoden station across from the JR Clement Hotel at Takamatsu Eki. What a deal! Wandered around the town for the day. Had a nice lunch at the temple on the hill. Loved the town. But the best was for last. The onsen is a great example of the modern Japanese esthetic. Very clean building lines, beautifully designed, plain and simple. I loved the building. The baths are gorgeous. All hinoki. The three outside baths have are cool, warm and hot and are perfect for enjoying the open outdoor area with a choice of temperatures. Lived in Japan for years, have been to many onsens but this is one of my favourites. Go. You'll have a great day out!

Takamatsu Marugamemachi Shopping Street

Reviewed By BZimm08 - Iwakuni, Japan

I do enjoy walking around these covered streets in Japan, honestly they seem to be similar and have the same types of shops. Although I don't really go into any of the shops, I do enjoy just walking around and looking at the shops and people. This covered street in Takamatsu is very long, it goes on for kilometers. They have a wide variety of shops from small local stores to high end expensive ones. There are restaurants mixed in with the shops. Overall, there is something here for everyone and the shopping street is worth s troll.

Shikoku Ferry

We arrived in Takamatsu by bus from Matsuyama, and went straight from the bus station to the ferry, an easy walk. We did go up via escalator onto a walkway to make it across the major road, and then down again at the ferry dock at the port. There are signs. This was the schedule that was available in April 2018. We went to Naoshima, and it was a very comfortable ride. We had heavy suitcases, and it was good to be able to go up to the guest level on the elevator. Just ask. There were quite a few using the elevator - Moms with strollers and a person on crutches. It is smart to have a return ticket, just to make sure you will make the last boat if you are staying for the day. Fun trip! Beautiful view on sunny days. Mystical view on rainy ones.

Takamatsu-Kotohira Electric Railroad

Reviewed By timbarrable - Bunbury, Australia

This is a great way to see the surrounding towns and villages near Takamatsu as there are actually three tracks - this one which goes to Kotahira and the famous Konpira-san temple, one that heads west and another which heads east along the coast. You can get a two day ticket for unlimited rides on the whole Kotoden Electric network and its well worth it. I just rode to different stations got off and explored. The eastern track takes you to some beautiful shrines and temples as well as coastal villages. The Kotahira track takes you to Konpira-san so you will probably just sleep on it on the way back after climbing all those stairs up the mountain :-)

Takamatsu Hyogomachi Shopping Street

Reviewed By MarkGroenewold - Takamatsu, Japan

This is the part of the shopping arcade where you can see a lot more people gather. The stores are a bit more upscale, so if you are looking for a new brand-name bag or jewelry this is a good place to go. Also, on many occasions you can see live music, dance performances, craft exhibits, flea markets, and all sorts of different events and activities. You never know what you might stumble on. Make sure to come through on different days and different times. You might get a lovely surprise. Lots of restaurants and coffee shops are also around here.
