Ryde is an English seaside town and civil parish on the Isle of Wight, with a population of 23,999 at the 2011 Census. It lies on the north-east coast. The town grew in size as a seaside resort after the villages of Upper Ryde and Lower Ryde were merged in the 19th century. The influence of this era is still strongly visible in the town's central and seafront architecture.

The Christmas Imaginarium is located in the Victorian seaside resort town of Ryde on the Isle of Wight. Located in an original Victorian shop that was built in the 1850’s, the building now houses the magical emporium filled with Christmas curiosities and festive finery. Opened at the behest of Father Christmas himself The Christmas Imaginarium also houses many magical surprises that one must visit to fully uncover.
What a lovely shop, good selection of decorations, I did find some of the items a bit pricey, I appreciate the craft that has gone into some of the decorations others are bought in. Dogs are welcome, we did carry our little dog just so the tail did not create havoc, plus I don't think I would be able to afford to pay for the damage she could have created. I am sure the shop is even more magical in December.

This place is not easy to find - which is possibly part of it's charm. You have to go into the Royal Victoria Arcade which is roughly halfway up Union Street, walk to the back, turn right and then go downstairs into what used to be a flea market made up of a maze of connected cellars. You pay the very modest entrance fee (£2) and then spend ages wondering around the passages and rooms full of interesting and sometimes quirky exhibits that are derived from the tapestry of Ryde's history. It is staffed by volunteers who are very friendly and helpful. You could easily find yourself chatting with them for ages. Check opening times if you are making a journey as it is not always open.

Hovertravel provides the fastest Isle of Wight ferry service across the Solent and is the world's longest running and only commercial hovercraft operator in Europe. Our passenger ferry service takes you directly to the shore at Southsea or Ryde in just 10 minutes. Easy onward travel connections are available with our Hoverbus to Portsmouth, bus and train connections at Ryde.
Brilliant hover service and only a 10 minute journey to the island . The crossing was a bit choppy but we got there safe and sound , the return journey was smoother due to better weather conditions.

Living on the Island we have always gone to the Cineworld complex and indeed have the monthly pass. We visited Ryde Cinema as Cineworld was closed and so glad we did. OK it’s dated, the screens are not the most modern and some of the seats take me back to my childhood BUT what great value at £4, friendly staff and reasonably priced snacks and drinks, £1.50 for a large good quality coffee is impressive. We have been 4 times in a week prior to lockdown and glad we did and supporting a local amenity. Will go again when things reopen and who knows we may cancel our passes for the other cinema.

The Museum will be open (10am until 4pm) on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays until Sunday 31st October 2021. Entry is free for all.
The IOW Bus Museum is an ideal location for those wet holiday days. Located in a former bus garage, the museum gives an overview of the vehicles and companies that once hauled holidaymakers round the Island on both public bus services and tours. The place is space restricted, so not all vehicles in the collection are there at one time. Plenty of social history too about the characters that worked for the companies. Tea bar and excellent book shop are well worth a visit if you want to stock up on some transport collectables. Open April to October on certain days a week, definitely worth a visit.

The Rosemary Vineyard shop is now open 7 days a week . In line with the government roadmap ,and social distancing rules, we are not doing any talks or tours at the present time but hope to be able to restart these as soon as the rules allow us to . Visitors will be very welcome in the shop and can enjoy walking outside in the Vineyard . The Vineleaf Cafe is also open daily, with outside seating only , and with a limited range of light snacks and drinks. We expect the Cafe to be able to offer indoor seating from 17th May. We will continue to follow the government,s Covid 19 safety guidelines and are sure that our visitors will understand and comply with the rules. We look forward to seeing you.
Just drinking the Vineyard's Sparkling Brut purchased on our recent visit to the IOW. A really nice wine. Refreshing, fruity and very bubbly. An excellent buy.

Our museum pays homage to Donald McGill, who spent his life creating comic artworks for the then thriving postcard industry. Donald created over 12,000 postcards from 1904 till his death in 1962.You will find that Donald's Cards will depict anything and everyone, his watchful eye never missed a humorous situation as he witnessed the years as they rolled through the 20th century.

Recently took my niece to the arcade, had an excellent time on the games winning tickets, but when it came time to cash out with some prizes the machine said that our receipt was invalid. But, after a quick friendly chat with Vicky at the reception counter we got it all sorted out no worries, and my niece had an excellent time. Even though it was really busy at the time absolutely everyone working was smiling, friendly, approachable and looked after us - thanks again guys, top marks.
