Popularly referred to as Ooty, this gem among southern hill resorts is covered in eucalyptus and pine trees and coffee and tea plantations. On a clear day, it's possible to see as far as the Mysore plateau from Dodabetta Peak, the district's most prominent viewpoint. The Stone House, a landmark 1822 bungalow, and St. Stephen's Church are remnants of the area's first British settlement. Also noteworthy: formal botanical gardens, a children's mini-garden and a contemporary art collection.

Here are a few things u must must try ... 1. Chocolates made by them specifically their bon bons.. loved them so much that now I keep ordering more from them and they ship it . 2. hot chocolate drink that you can buy just outside.. 3. Soft serve ice cream. It's only vanilla but it's amazing. 4. Ferrero ice cream.. ate 2 of them in the same day. 5. Mini pizza Cons- The staff outside is over worked outside so might be a little difficult to get their attention. They might be really nice ppl but if u want anything out of the regular then wait till they are totally free.. that's usually after 7 pm

The church is a wonderful heritage building built during the British times. It was designed (if I remember correctly) by one of the Captains in the British Military as early as in 1830s. Unfortunately I could not see the inside due to Sunday Mass. If you are interested to visit the church inside, I would suggest visiting on a day other than Sunday.

For anyone who enjoys books or libraries the Niligari library is a must visit. It was one of the highlights of my tour of south India. The atmosphere in this wonderful Gothic style building is wonderful and well worth experiencing. The staff were very welcoming and we toured the building with our guide. I wanted to spend far more time there just looking at books and soaking up the ambience. I held my first ever original copy of Punch magazine and sat in a chair staring at a wonderful painting of Queen Victoria , a painting with its own fascinating Indian history.

Not just a museum but a holistic and enthralling experience, Wax Planet, takes you around the Planet, vis-a-vis life-like wax statues.
