I have to say that for a small museum I was very impressed by the amount of information that this museum covers. It is really an interesting and amazing place for a small museum at the shore. There are rooms that cover shark attacks, luxury liner disasters, ship wrecks, shore erosion issues, Coast Guard information, local history dealing with the sea and shore and lots of artifacts from wrecks over the last three hundred years. I was impressed by the information on the 1916 Shark Attacks that inspired the movie "Jaws" and the disaster of many of the luxury liners even after what we learned from the Titanic ten years earlier. There are all sorts of eye witness accounts recorded and all sorts of artifacts. There is a lot of information on Maritime history of the Jersey Shore and a lot about the resort history of the area. There is a lot on the resorts of not just Beach Haven but the surrounding shore towns. Each room is packed with information and can be somewhat overwhelming unless you have a few hours to spend here like I did. I found myself leaving after over two hours. Do not miss this little gem of a museum that is well worth the visit and has free admission. They ask for a small donation which is fair. The people who work here are very friendly and welcoming and will answer any questions.

A family owned and operated business that started in 1952. Now in it's third generation of family members, the Surf City 5&10 has become a staple for beachgoers and tourists in the heart of Surf City. Everything needed for the beach, toys to keep little (And big! ) kids occupied, as well as Salt water Taffy and candy. An enormous amount of beach wear and LBI apparel, jewelry, hats and footwear. With over 12,000 different items, Surf City 5&10 has become LBI's "One stop beach shop" and is now celebrating it's 67th Anniversary!

From it's humble beginnings under a tent in 1950, Surflight Theatre has been a premier venue for live theatre, and is the only professional theatre in Ocean County, NJ. Surflight offers a full summer season of broadway quality productions, along with Childrens' Theatre, Concerts, and the world famous Show Place Ice Cream Parlour.
I've had the pleasure of visiting this establishment, and each time the show has been outstanding with fresh new talent and unexpected surprises. (Justin Guarini, second runner up to Kelly Clarkson in Season One of AMERICAN IDOL, in RENT one summer, for example) Tickets are inexpensive and every seat is great!

The gem of the Queen City, also known as Beach Haven, lies in the heart of the downtown strip. Bay Village has been a traveler's destination for 50 years on Long Beach Island. The Maschal family has created or re-created a 19th century waterfront village into a mecca of shopping, browsing eating and relishing in all things that are quintessential summertime activities. Shops include: Breezin' Up, The Parlor, Song of the Sea, Indian Summer, Crust & Crumb Bakery, Cool Beans, Country Kettle Chowda & Fudge, Beached, Surf Shack South, The Windmill Waffles & Ice Cream, Bistro 14, Bay Village Pizza, Spice It Up, Zinnia Jewelry, Raquel's Closet & More, Just Love, & Yuletide

The “Original” Ron Jon Surf Shop opened in Long Beach Island, New Jersey in 1961. Founder, Ron DiMenna, sold surfboards out of that tiny Jersey shore shop, supplying former customers with surfboards to open their own surf shops on the East Coast. Today, the 8,100-square-foot store is a four-level surf emporium filled with a colossal selection of active lifestyle apparel and board sports equipment. It even features one of the world’s largest surfboards (more than 24 feet in length)! Ron Jon, with its signature blue, orange and yellow exterior, is one of the first things beachgoers see when they drive onto Long Beach Island, and it’s the perfect place to stop before stepping onto the beach. Whether you need a new swimsuit, sandals, sunglasses or bottle of sunscreen, you’re sure to find everything you need to enjoy a great day at the beach. Come and see where it all started…
There are many surf shops on the Jersey shore, but Ron Jon is the original. This shop is huge and has plenty of merchandise for serious surfers and casual shoppers.

We opened our door in March 2013 wanting to provide our community & visitors with unique ingredients to make every meal special. We search out small food companies that use good, all-natural ingredients that enhance your meal and make you feel good about what you are eating! Spice It Up offers dried herbs and spices, spice blends, oils, vinegars, baking ingredients, gluten-free items, salts, peppers, and many different types of condiments and BBQ fixings. We also love suggestions, so please share your favorite products & recipes with us! In 2017, we welcomed the new addition--the deli--to bring you delicious, mouth-watering sandwiches and daninis-our version of a panini. We use only the finest & best ingredients and look forward to feeding you & your family!
The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful when providing hot sauce and other product recommendations that were delicious! We also ordered several sandwiches, including the indian summer, the zinia vegan, and the chick's special delivery. Each was a good portion size, came with a pickle, and was very tasty! I would particularly recommend the indian summer to vegetarians in the area, as it was filling and so much more creative than a standard grilled veggie sandwich at other deli's. We were then able to walk up to the beach (a quick 5 mins) and enjoy our lunch there. We have already been back again because of our great experience, and have had excellence service during our later trips as well. As an additional note during covid-19: the staff were all wearing their masks properly and politely suggested we wait outside while our food was prepared (smart since it's not a huge store and it was nice outside).

I made a special appointment to see the Barnegat Light Museum because it had been closed over the last few months because of COVID. The President of the Museum Board came in to give me a special tour and we spent the afternoon going over all the exhibitions in the museum. The museum was once a one room school house and houses the original light for the lighthouse. That was fascinating with its unusual design. There are all sorts of interesting artifacts in the museum from old china and housewares, to dinosaur bones that we found in the bay and donated to the museum. There is a complete history of the old school house which was used until the 1950's including pictures of the classes and notes from the students. There are all sorts of decoys that represent the areas hunting past and all sorts of nautical items shopping the shipping and fishing industries. The walls are line with pictures from every era. There are all sorts of artifacts from its past from old signs to businesses long gone. The museum covers all sorts of stories of Long Beach Island that are nicely displayed in one room. It is well worth the visit. The gardens that surround the museum are maintained by the Long Beach Island Garden Club and are really nice. Take time to walk through the paths and admire the plantings and flowers. I highly recommend this small wonderful little museum.
