Butterfly-shaped Favignana is a lovely destination for divers and beach lovers. Climb aboard the adorable Egadilandia, a tourist train that chugs along the island’s main streets and coastlines. Don’t miss the Ex Stabilimento Florio (a tuna canning factory turned museum), the challenging hike to the hilltop ruins of the Castello di Santa Caterina and snuggling up with your soul mate at the Lover’s Grotto.

We’d been looking the the Stabilimento for a couple of evenings before we visited. Very informative about the history of the way that Tuna has traditionally been caught and processed.

The shop, The True Flavors Favignanesi, born from a dream placed in the drawer by the owner Marcello. Marcello, with his sympathy and courtesy, proposes his products of tonnara with minuteness of details, from the most typical and traditional to the most elaborate. Flavors that recall old traditions that, over the course of many years, are handed down from father to son. Flavors that arise from the skill and inventiveness of highly qualified producers, of which Marcello avails himself. A visit to his shop is a must for those who come to Favignana, while those who have already been there, do not fail to revisit it.

At the moment, this palace works as the tourist office, and it has some exhibits of the fisheries on both floors. Amazing view over the harbour. The people at the tourist office are very helpful and speak English.
