Halifax's First Live Escape Room games at Berwick Street Mills and The Piece Hall. Can you and your team crack the codes, solve the puzzles and reveal hidden secrets in order to make your escape from the themed room within 60 minutes?
5 of us played the Operation Moonshine room and had a brilliant time! The puzzles were innovative and original, as well as very clever, and Mark was very welcoming and a great game master. Would definitely recommend, amazing quality room!

A museum showing the development of industry in Halifax and Calderdale from domestic textile manufacture in the seventeenth century through to modern machine tools. The museum is located in the centre of Halifax, five minutes from the train station and Eureka! It is unusual in covering such a wide range of industries in one museum.
This is a late review as we visited last year but didn’t have an account on here. We really enjoyed our visit, it was educational and informative giving a real sense of the relevance of the Industrial Revolution to our local area. The two lady volunteers were friendly and enthusiastic, emphasising the importance of the museum. We enjoyed the demonstrations of the various machines, particularly the sweet wrapping one! It is vital that places such as this are preserved for future generations; it is well worth a visit to keep this living history alive.

Following a multi-million pound transformation project, Britain's last surviving cloth hall, featuring independent shops, cafes and bars, heritage visitor centre, art gallery and a spectacular events programme is now open seven days a week.
First visit to Halifax as a tourist and the day centred around the Piece Hall. What a wonderful day out and very much recommended to all. Impressive architecture, full of history. Made to feel very welcome by the good people of Halifax with plenty to see and do. We joined a free tour of the Piece Hall and our guide Pamela did a truly superb job of bringing the history to life and showing us around. The work that has been done to restore the Piece Hall is world class. There's great independant shops to visit and several very pleasant places to eat and drink including Gin Lane where we enjoyed a special Espresso Martini and Elder that provided a superb lunch which included catering perfectly for my gluten free dietry needs. Hope to visit again soon!

A Museum since 1887, Bankfield tells the story of Halifax and Calderdale, using its rich and diverse collections. Set in the attractive surroundings of Akroyd Park, at the centre of Akroydon model village conservation area, this Victorian mansion was the home of local mill owner, philanthropist and MP, Colonel Edward Akroyd. We are a short distance from the centre of Halifax, with free parking and close to public transport links. Bankfield's exhibitions cover local history, costume, art, toys, military history, jewellery and textiles from around the world. Our collections contain objects from Ancient Egypt through to the 21st Century as we continue to collect and preserve items for future generations
There is so much to see in this small friendly museum as well as the Gentleman Jack clothes display, there is a significant and well researched Duke of Wellington sections, WW2 exhibitions and upstairs displays of historical clothes and textiles, not large but well set out with good notes, plus temporary open art exhibitions.

A 900 year old Grade 1 church with extremely fine historic furnishings, fascinating history and wonderful stories
It's a wonderful Grade 1 listed church with original box pews, spectacular stained glass, an amazing font and cover ... The volunteers were welcoming and informative. When I was there an organist (visiting) was preparing for a service the following day celebrating the anniversary of the Queen's accession and played what he described as a 'very loud' piece. Indeed it was! But apart from that, I was overwhelmed by the quiet majesty of the building.

An authentic and unique microbrewery in Hipperholme, serving 8 distinctive ales at any one time. Spotlessly clean and thoughtfully run, Cock o' the North provides an ambience second to none, the subdued lighting and measured sound system compliments the well appointed beer. Some 180 different beers rotate along 8 hand pumps on the polished granite bar. Attention to detail belies the ordinary exterior, therefore a wide variety of quality spirits, lagers and ciders are served. Keep up to date with all of Cock o' events through the group on Facebook. Search 'Cock o' the North' to become a member. Welcome, we hope to see you soon.
Been here many times to music events. Excellent selection of ales brewed on site, very pleasant and helpful staff and a great venue to relax and try the 40 plus different brewed ales and ciders.

Have been trying to locate a great pizza place during COVID as our usual Pizza Hut is closed . We tried several and all were poor. A friend recommended The Pear Tree and it was ordered and delivered this evening . We had 4 pizzas - Margarita, Pepperoni and Mushroom all tasted amazing. Can’t believe this place is on our doorstep and we haven’t tried before. Delivery prompt. Will definitely use again during and after COVID. If you’re looking for a great pizza try here !
