Museo de Arte Abstracto Espanol

The Museo de Arte Abstracto Español in Cuenca exhibits a permanent collection of 129 paintings and sculptures by Spanish artists of the Abstract Generation of the 1950s and 60s (Millares, Tàpies, Sempere, Torner, Rueda, Zóbel, Saura, among some thirty other artists), as well as other artists from the 1980s and 90s.In 1980, the founder of the Museum, Fernando Zóbel, donated its collection to the Fundación Juan March, which then incorporated it into its own collection. Situated in the Casas Colgadas (Hanging Houses) of the city of Cuenca, in a late-fifteenth-century medieval building, property of the city, the Museum has undergone various renovations and, in 1994, inaugurated its galleries for temporary exhibitions.

This is one of the best modern art galleries we have visited. The collection is not large but each piece shouts quality. It is very well laid out with plenty of space for each exhibit, and many very interesting pieces. The collection is housed in one of the hanging houses in the old town of Cuenca, which adds to its interest. There was no entry charge, but we would willingly have paid. It was such a treat.

Catedral De Cuenca

This is a very interesting cathedral to visit. The external architecture is of Medieval style and has intricate carvings. The highlights inside include the choir and organs, the main chapel, the Main Sacristy, the Deep Chapel and the Jamete Arch. The admission staff provided us a map with the highlights of the cathedral and free audio guide, which were helpful for us to understand the history behind the different parts of the Cathedral. There was also a tower, which you can go up, near the exit of the cathedral. It is about a four storey climb and you can see the surrounding area at the top.

Museo Fundacion Antonio Perez

Reviewed By tmhome100 - El Casar, Spain

A very nice art museum that begs the question, "What Is Art?" You'll find all sorts of examples of modern art located within an absolutely beautiful building with an amazing view. Sculpture, paintings, objects, fabrics, and more that push the boundaries. The collection deserves a look if you have the time. We can highly recommend. Young children may not appreciate it, but if you have children that are interested in art, this will get a reaction from them!

Taberna Jovi

Reviewed By Foxhill34 - Leeds, United Kingdom

We found this bar quite by accident on a Friday evening. It looks like a gentleman's club - lots of dark wood and leather, and a bar that reaches round 2 sides of the room, stocked with many different wines and spirits. The barman was friendly and helpful, and we managed to communicate despite my very little Spanish. Each drink was accompanied by a selection of very tasty tapas! We went back the following evening, and although it was much busier we were recognized and greeted with a smile - by the barman and another customer! Taberna Jovi had a great atmosphere, and the age ranges were from young children to the very elderly. Would definitely recommend.

Museo Tesoro Catedral

The Museum occupies the first three floors of the Episcopal Palace.Consists of 10 rooms that are displayed more than 200 pieces of great value and uniqueness. Include two paintings by famed Cretan artist El Greco, the valuable collection of jewelry in silver. Special mention to the collection of Flemish tapestries and Renaissance tables. We also have some special activities for children.

This museum has three floors of valuable exhibits and they belong to different churches in the Cuenca Region. Each floor shows the expression of Christian faith over time starting from 16th-18th Century. I liked the treasure chamber as you can see different gold and silver work pieces. The tapestry display on the main floor was also very impressive.
