Casa Parlante

"Welcome! Please, come in! The Count will be with you presently. He hopes you will join him and the Countess in the drawing room for tea." This is what you would hear at Casa Parlante, the most alive historical museum in Corfu. A 19th century noble mansion comes to life with stories to tell. In the unique architectural setting of a classical mansion in the historic Old town of Corfu, the everyday life of the island's 19th century nobility is recreated. Through animated figures, using robotic technology, and the perfect reproduction of decor and furnishing, Casa Parlante promises to deliver you a true insight into bygone Corfu. Awakening all your senses, the traditions of the island unfold in front of you, depicting family life in an authentic experience of sights, sounds and smells. Before your eyes the house will come to life... Listen to the children of the family playing music, smell the aromas of the cook's virtuosic cuisine, read the headlines of the Count's newspaper... Casa Parlante is a unique museum: it brings history to life and lets the visitor breathe it in.

Interesting, small, local history museum. Interior in good shape as well as furnitures and objects. Museum uses motorized dummies to animate history. They are not robots, only the head or arm is moving back and forth. The museum tour is always led by the guide. There is possibility to ask questions, which is absolutely nice. This is a little gem of Cofu Town..the price is 5 euro each, and you also receive a glass of rose liqueur and a guided tour of 19th century living...You will enjoy this museum. It's something different from others, it has its uniqueness.

Patounis Soap Factory

The Patounis soap factory is operating since the 19th century without interruption. It still produces pure olive soap, using the same traditional method.

Loved getting a glimpse into the inner workings of this family run business, which has been producing soap since 1850. The free tour at noon was informative and interesting, and we were able to watch some of the processes. Charming, fun and educational - would highly recommend.

Sweet & Spicy is A-1 for shopping - and for meeting Katherine, a fun and friendly spice guru. I first stopped in for an olive oil tasting during a Cultural/Culinary tour of Old town (“Walking Tours of Corfu”) - and fell in love with the shop and with Katherine, its owner. Spending some time there is a wonderful experience of taste, smell, knowledge and fun, and Katherine brings it all alive. Just prior to my departure, I returned to do some shopping for my sister and nephews (good chefs all), and had yet another good visit with Katherine, her husband, and other customers. Yes, it’s that friendly! I highly recommend Sweet ‘n Spicy for some terrific gifts (for others and yourself!), for some cooking ideas, and for a thoroughly enjoyable visit with Katherine.

MiNiMiS

MiNiMIS: The Art of Recycling. “Creating jewelry from empty glass bottles is our way of combining our love for the environment and our love for art. - Mirella and Nikol Misfout” MiNiMiS is a Corfiot business initiative by Mirella and Nikol Misfout to decrease glass waste and creatively recycle it into glass handcrafted art. We came up with the idea of creatively recycling glass bottles in 2013 when we came across a tremendous glass bottle waste in the island, especially during summer time when Corfu was overloaded by glass bottle consumption. Having the experience and the expertise on glass processing through our family business "Corfu Glass", the biggest glass construction factory in Corfu, we decided to collect most of the bottle waste and transform it into creative pieces of jewellery art. The world can get better with MiNiMiS, so after you Drink it.Save it

Such a great idea, recycling at its best. I purchased this beautiful glass dish, with plans to use for holding jewellery. It’s much too beautiful for that...and is now displayed empty in its full glory. My dish is made from Corfu beer bottles, how great is that, even knowing it’s original use!!! Would definitely recommend visiting this shop or its web site.
