Buried beneath the Connemara Mountain lies a way of life long abandoned and almost forgotten just waiting for you to explore! Let the team at Glengowla Mines lead you on a journey of discovery of how lead and silver were mined from the roots of the Connemara Mountains in the 1800’s. The constant dripping of water, the ‘miners breath’ and if you are brave enough - a moment of darkness will set the scene! Delve into the depths of Glengowla mines where you can explore the caverns of marble studded with lead and silver. Follow the veins of copper pyrite which will lead you to the ‘miners gold’ - Galena. Marvel at the rare and beautiful crystals of quartz and fluorite. Learn of the working conditions the miners worked under before the mines closed in 1865. A firm favourite with adults and children alike is to pan for gold and gems at our gold panning station and keep any gems you find! Not only will you enjoy guided tours of the mines,
One of the best afternoons spent in Connemara. Great for kids and adults. The staff were all friendly and very patient with my son (and his millions of questions). The Sheepdog display is a must, we loved meeting Jess the sheepdog and watching her herding the sheep to us so we could pet and feed them. The mine tour was great, limited group numbers so not rushed and really interesting with a very knowledgeable and funny guide. We were taught how to pan for gold and even given a little bag to bring our treasure home. A relaxed afternoon in beautiful surroundings to wander around. Great attention to Covid measures, everything we touched was cleaned. I Highly Recommend a visit here!

Learn To Shoot or Improve Your Skills at Shotgun Shooting or Rifle and Air Rifle. Whether an absolute beginner or an experienced shot, we've been teaching clients for many years. It is important to stress that we have a broad range of firearms, some which are very light with minimum recoil and highly suitable for ladies or young persons to shoot safely with. Shane was originally trained by Holland & Holland of London and Werner is an ex Bisley Coach. We can supply you with all necessary equipment and can teach individuals or small groups. We are Government Approved by the Garda Siochana and fully insured. Shane also trains in Safety Courses necessary for first time applicants for Shotgun and Rifle Licences.
Just had a great morning with Shane. He is a true professional, he analyses deconstructs and explains the process in the simplest way to allow the shooting process to become so natural. He even thought us some communication skills ! This is well worth doing.

Johnny and Annie started creating unique hand crafted jewellery in 1973. Since then the business has developed with the help of their son Jonathan who is carrying on the family tradition and now manages the business. Their full collection of jewellery can be seen at their flagship store in Clifden, where there is a full open plan workshop to see the jewellery being made. They also have a small retail shop at the Cliffs of Moher.
I absolutely love this store. The pieces are gorgeous and incredibly well made and the customer service is fantastic whether you are in store or buying online. Each order I've gotten has a personalized handwritten note and a chocolate with it and once I even got a free pendant with my order that I usually wear every day. I cannot wait to be able to go back to Ireland one day, I'll definitely be stopping by this store.

Cead Mile Failte – “A Hundred Thousand Welcomes” to Keogh’s Irish Gifts and to our little corner of Ireland – Oughterard, Co. Galway! We are a family-run Irish Gift Shop on Main Street, Oughterard established in 1945 by John P. Keogh. John’s son Henry, and wife Mary, have carried on operating the shop for the past 30 years, along with their three children Oisin, Siofra and Bonnie. Read more about
This is a store with everything! Our B&B hostess suggested we look there for a belt. My husband forgot his and we couldn't find one American-sized in other stores. The proprietor of Keoghs disappeared into the storage room and came out with the perfect belt at an excellent price. We browsed and found some great souvenirs while we waited. We were in Oughterard for 3 days and were in Keoghs at least 3 times. We felt very welcome and found so many treasures. This shop is one of the reasons we would move to Oughterard if we could.
