We were shopping on a busy day in Blackburn just before Christmas and took an overwhelming urge for a pre-Christmas glass of Prosecco. This is a problem in the centre of Blackburn as a lot of the pubs are a bit basic. So we were very pleased to find this small upmarket bar which was styled as a Speakeasy. There was a huge gin menu with very reasonable prices. We had two small bottles of Prosecco which were reasonably priced at £4.90 each. It was clearly quite popular and the service was very efficient and friendly.

Blackburn Cathedral is one of England's newest cathedrals, yet it is one of the country's oldest places of Christian worship. For many centuries, this has been the Parish Church of Blackburn dedicated to St. Mary the Virgin. It continues as a place of prayer and worship and is now at the centre of the Diocese which takes in almost the whole of Lancashire.
Well this was a surprise, a lovely cathedral that seemed to combine the old and modern, it was bright and airy, possibly my favourite cathedral for the design. The people there were very welcoming and friendly, even the bishop stopped to chat. Excellent.

A volunteer led theatre bringing you a range of shows including music, musicals, plays, variety, dance as well as stage school weeks.
My wife & I had tickets to see Northern Jazz Orchestra's 30th anniversary show here. We are from out of town, & unsure of what to expect. The theatre is without doubt the best provincial 'little theatre' we have attended; intimate, extremely comfortable seating, nicely ordered & maintained, & with friendly service from volunteer front of house & bar staff; reasonable selection of drinks & bar prices. Lighting & sound engineering were very good, & we will not hesitate to take up a future opportunity to visit, & only wish it was closer to home.

The Museum and art gallery of Blackburn has a wide range of exhibitions, events and activities and also has collections of Japanese prints, the Hart collection of books, coins and medieval manuscripts, an award-winning South Asian gallery, the history of Blackburn, the Egyptian Mummy, Fine and Decorative Art and the Bowdler collection of world beetles. Located in the city centre this museum is free to enter and literally has something for everyone. The fine art collection is particularly excellent and of course there is a focus on Blackburn's industrial heritage, particularly on its mills and weaving. An excellent way to spend a few hours and a museum for the city to be proud of.
