So much variety in one place. Unique items from a variety of artists. Since items are a little pricey but it's always worth a visit. Gets really crowded at special events and close to the holidays.

From the time the volunteers open the door and say "welcome home" to Visiting the gift shop next door it is an awesome experience. Seeing the home where AA got it's start was humbling. Original furnishings and the highlight was listening to recordings of Dr. Bob and Bill

A major jewel in Downtown Akron, I've been coming here off and on for over 30 years and I've never been disappointed. The prices are reasonable and all of the nuts are fresh.

Wonderful movie house showing independent, classic and foreign films and you don't have to drive to Cleveland (thinking of you, Cedar Lee and CIA Cinematheque). It is an independent, 501(c)(3) nonprofit movie theater. About 50 seats. Bar serving beer and alcohol and snacks. Screen size and sound are good. Reasonable ticket prices, and you can buy online (buying online in advance might be a good idea for popular movies). Note that High Street in Akron is a one way street. Street parking or use the parking garage just down the street.

Hot glass studio and gallery. Demonstrations, workshops, group tours, private parties, glass gifts made on site. Custom lighting and online shopping. The Sanctuary at Akron Glass Works event venue for weddings, parties, corporate events, etc.
We attended a glass blowing class and made two ornaments that could be used on a Christmas tree or displayed all year round. There were lots of colors to choose from. Our instructors, Sebastian and Nate were awesome! They gave good instruction and ensured everyone was safe and made beautiful keepsakes. Well worth the cost of the class!

I took a tour of Hower House last month in Akron, Ohio and was so pleased to find an immaculately preserved Second Empire Victorian home. It is very large, with three finished stories. It's apparent that much care has gone in to preserving and maintaining this home. Also, this summer they have displays on all 3 floors of wedding dresses and accessories; the Hower family is featured, and there are many interesting photographs of the weddings in their family. This is one of the most beautiful exhibits I have ever seen; much care and love has gone into this. I highly recommend touring Hower House.

I love the Akron Civic Theatre! It is has great entertainment of many venues and always delivers quality! It is full of history and simply beautiful throughout! The theatre is modeled after a castle with many carvings all around. It was originally built in 1929 and is one of only 5 theaters in the United States with a ceiling that has twinkling stars and moving clouds overhead - truly a unique experience!
