10 Things to do for Honeymoon in Vieste That You Shouldn't Miss

May 22, 2022 Chanda Heide

For years, Vieste was just another fishing village… but now it’s a popular Mediterranean beach destination. Swim and sail in deep-blue water (widely renowned for its purity), or explore the town’s fine castle and cathedral. For the ultimate Vieste experience, pack a picnic basket and ask a local to direct you to their favorite hidden cove.

Vieste Promenade

Reviewed By GRS-SJS - Sebastopol, United States

This is a beautiful promenade along the coast/beach line of Viesta. Lots of photo spots as you walk. You can stop and enjoy a coffee or gelato along your way. Make sure to take a promenade at night as well, beautiful if the moon is out as well.

Trabucco San Lorenzo

Reviewed By 276elisam - Innsbruck, Austria

We booked our guided tour & fishing lesson on the ancient Trabucco easily through wtsapp! We got there on foot as suggested by Gianni...having a nice walk along the coast starting from Vieste Harbour and proceeding in direction of Peschici. As soon as we arrived there, we were welcomed with a great Aperitivo from Gianni Spalatro & Brother, two Master Trabucco Fishermen. Then we started the real fishing Lesson with an historic introduction on the origins of Trabucco. The hole story is full of fashion and captures even children attention! Gianni adapts the guided tour to his public, so he made it in italian Language and then in english. We had a really nice time there and you feel so at your ease, that everybody stays more than one hour..fishing with net, having a nice talk with Gianni & Brother, making pics, observing the romantic sunset...

Borgo Antico di Vieste

Reviewed By Bandit-One - Lucerne, Switzerland

The Parco Nazionale del Gargano - actually a peninsula - has lots of amazing sights, towns and landscapes. It's just fun to drive around in this area. Peschici is a fascinating small old town worth visiting. And then there is Vieste. A lot bigger than Peschici, but both being white-washed towns (at least the Historic Centers). This town is well worth a visit and worth a (longer) drive. Especially the Centro Storico is a must-do (besides the beach and Promenade). The Centro Storico (or Borgo Antico) is easy to find when coming from the Corso Lorenzo Fazzini. Just follow this big street to the Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II and access the historic Center from there; the small lane Corso Umberto leads right into the maze of the Centro Storico. Around this area there are some souvenir shops and a good number of restaurants. When you walk deeper into the old town, it gets less touristy. People live here in their houses and apartements. So be a bit respectful. But it's nice just to stroll around and get lost once in a while. Be aware though that parts are quite steep and many lanes have longer stairs, might not be suitable for everybody. Once you reach the top around the Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta in Cielo, you can take the Via Cesare Battisti back to the new town (a lot of restaurants on this street), where you should head to the beach for the nice Promenade and some good views of the Historic Center sitting on the cliffs.
