Of all the distilleries visited on Speyside and Islay , this tour was the best . The guide was knowledgeable and informative, the distillery was medium sized and family owned and managed which is refreshing among all the large corporate owned businesses.

Booked a Distillery tour for me and my partner with 7 tastings which was amazing. Firstly it was very easy to book via email. Lauren the person who organised it was very helpful and friendly. Once we arrived onsite we headed into the shop where we took our temperatures for covid and we greeted in a very friendly manner. We were the only people on the tour so it was like our own private tour and tasting. Our tour guide Natasha was very knowledgeable and friendly, and answered all our questions very well while we were on the tour. The tasting was great and it was lovely to be able to taste all the whisky's they had, next to one another, my partner was driving so he even got to take the whisky away in little bottles to try when we got home. Definitely worth a visit!

We were treated to the best whisky experience. Starting with the history of William Grant, the intimate tour brought us through the many processes of how whiskey is distilled, aged and we’ve learnt so much from this tour, it was a very well-spent afternoon! We’ve had the chance to taste one of the best single malt whiskey ranging from 12-year, solera 15-year, 18-year, 21-year, 25-year, 26-year and a special treat of a dram of 30-year to commemorate my 30th birthday. The food pairing was amazing and brought a magical experience for our taste buds. Unlike the other distilleries who used state of the art scientific methods to make whiskey, Glenfiddich retained the traditions of wood and differed oak casks to produce their whiskey. The single location also ensured that whiskey produced here is not mixed with other waters, which retains the original Glenfiddich traditions. Definitely a must-see! I would die and come back for the angel share if I must ????

Please bring your face mask to wear whilst inside and adhere to physical distancing. We are offering tastings for groups of maximum of 6 people for over 18 years old. Our shop will also be open - capacity is limited so a short wait in our courtyard may be required.

Went to a couple of distilleries before we hit Strathisla. Easy to reach via train, no restaurant on-site but the reception recommended a wonderful cafe not too far. We signed up for the Chivas Blending Experience tour; had Linda as our guide who very enthusiastically took us through a 2-hour tour of the distillery and tasting, answered all the questions we had with a smile, afterwards got to blend our own whisky. Excellent service and staff, wonderful experience, highly recommended, 10/10.

Cardhu Distillery

Share with us the story of the only malt distillery pioneered by a woman. The malt whisky produced here has a warmth and cleanliness of taste which experts describe as "silky" and is used in some of the award winning Johnnie Walker blends.

The Cardhu Distillery was the highlight of our trip! My husband and I did the Collection Tour and found it to be most enlightening. Our guide was friendly and highly experienced as she had been at Cardhu Distillery for 22 years. The guide tutored us in the nosing and tasting of 6 different whiskies. The tour of the whisky making process was amazing as well. I will add that getting to feed digestives (cookies) to the three highland cows in residence there was incredible too (Fluffy was my favorite though)!

The Whisky Castle

The Whisky Castle has been selling the finest malt whiskies of Scotland from its premises in the quaint village of Tomintoul for over 100 years. It is located at the gateway to Scotland's Malt Whisky Trail. Tomintoul is the highest village in the Highlands of Scotland and The Whisky Castle is the highest whisky shop in the UK. Your hosts Sam and Scott, along with their team Maureen, Kirstin and Lauren would be delighted to welcome you to sample some of the finest Scottish malts and gins Scotland has to offer. We have over 500 malt whiskies with many being single cask, independently bottled and from small batches. We provide a unique tasting experience from a fantastic selection of products allowing us to match a malt to your palette and budget. Our single malts are personally selected by us with many being non-chill filtered so you are assured of some of the most unique drams from across Scotland including limited and rare collectables. We also stock some whiskies from distilleries that have closed and also those that have been demolished and lost forever! We also offer lager, beers, wine, champagne, vodka, gin, port, brandy, sherry and many Scottish liqueurs. There is an extensive gift shop and 18 seater café in our Highland Market serving hot food all day. We offer a full range of Scottish gifts, toys, unique jewellery and country clothing to suit all tastes. When you get the chance to visit us you will be given a traditional warm Scottish welcome and if you are looking for something extra special that we don't have in stock we offer a sourcing service and we can have your item shipped direct to your door. All of our products can be bought online. We love reaching out and spreading the word about the fabulous Malt Whiskies of Scotland in their natural state where there is no added caramel for colouring and whiskies have not been chill-filtered for clarity and/or diminished in flavour for consistency.

We visited the Whisky Castle twice during our weeks holiday. On both occasions we had very friendly service and great advice. The service was relaxed and informative making the experience really enjoyable, so much so we bought lots, having tasted before we bought. As I write this review, Corona virus is gripping the world and all the distilleries were closing. A visit to this great shop more than made up for it.
