Chiriquí Province is a mountainous wonderland, located near the Barú Volcano. If you’re an adventure and nature lover, you’ll be right at home here, as the region offers everything from white-water rafting and kayaking to zip-line rainforest rides and hiking. More relaxed activities, such as coffee plantation tours and bird-watching, also are available here. To reach Chiriquí, you’ll likely pass through David, Panama’s third-largest city. If you choose to visit the Gulf of Chiriquí, you’ll find first-rate scuba diving, snorkeling, and other water sports that take full advantage of its marine location.

Since 1998, Surfer's Paradise has run boat trips out to the world-class waves located off of Panama's breathtaking and largely undeveloped region of Chiriqui on the Pacific Coast. Located on a private island overlooking the Sandbar Break (one of the best and most consistent breaks in the region), we are just a short boat trip away from a variety of left and right surf breaks. Whether you're an experienced surfer hunting for empty tubes, or a novice looking to learn to surf in a beautiful setting far away from the hassles of your local crowded lineup, we can find waves for you. There are over 12 surfbreaks to choose from with breaks going from beginner to advanced. Other activities include snorkeling, fishing and hiking to the island waterfalls.

The Lost Waterfalls is a moderate to difficult hike through the cloud forest in western Panama to three fabulous waterfalls. The hike can take from one to three hours round trip depending on how many waterfalls you want to see. If you are lucky you may spot sloths, monkeys, quetzals or any number of the fascinating wildlife living in the cloud forest. We are open every day and you do not need reservations to hike. You do not need a guide, but there are lots of good guides in town who can make your hike more informative and fun.
If you're up for hiking in the jungles of Panamá this is the place to do it. The falls are absolutely gorgeous and the flora and fauna is amazing! Best to hike right before the dry season, because the trails get slippery during the rainy season. You won't regret thus trip. We have lived in Panamá 14 years and have done this hike twice. Takes hours to do so bring water and snacks!
