Even though Copeton Dam is very low at the moment due to the devastating drought, it is still worth the visit. Staff are very friendly and the facilities are very good. They have park accommodation and playgrounds for children. The size of the dam is impressive

Grandis Picnic Area

Reviewed By emdeme - Newcastle, Australia

It was great to see the area around the tree so well protected, so that future generations can continue to enjoy this without damge to the tree. It certainly is tall, nearly impossible to photograph as its so high up to the top. The road in and out is dirt but well maintained ( we came through from the Lakes Way) and it is easy to get to. The tree is only a few meters walk from the car park so its easily accessible. Worth a visit.

Living Desert State Park

Reviewed By Wendy0710 - Melbourne, Australia

This was a surprising great excursion from the Indian Pacific train. Watching the sunrise with 360 degree views of the landscape was very special. The sculptures were wonderful, each with an interesting story to tell. Glad we were there early though as I think the flies might be tricky later in the day.

Mount Canobolas State Conservation Area

Reviewed By Kerryn72 - Melbourne, Australia

After a long windy drive up the mountain the view at sunset was lovely! Really worth the drive to see the valley view and take in the vista in front of you. At some points the trees are tall obstructing the view. A few information boards in centre of carpark to read about the area. Lots of parking. Also some walking trails you can do.
