The kayaking tour in the mines was probably the highlight of my trip to Slovenia. It was very well organized and great fun. First going down the mines with the small train in the dark. Then preparing for the kayaking (good equipment). The kayaking was really great. We were allowed to explore the mines all by ourselves for an hour. No need to be afraid to get lost, its not that big. After that the tour continued with walking through the old mines with interesting information. And ending with a miners lunch. We were the only english-speaking people in the tour, all the others were Slovenian, but that was not a problem at all. The tourguide always made sure to inform us as well. All in all, definetly recommendable and worthwhile taking a detour to Mezica!

Kobarid Museum displays exhibits on the events that occurred during World War I on the Soška fronta - Isonzo Front. It covers two and a half years of static fighting and portrays in detail the 12th Isonzobattle, also known as the Caporetto breakthrough. The latter is one of the major battles in the history of mankind having taken place in hillyterrain.

The museum wonderfully depicts the "Soška fronta" and the struggles of soldiers fighting there. Awful conditions to live in, not to mention these men were fighting to survive for multiple months. We were both deeply touched, definitely recommended for anyone interested in the 1st world war and for everyone in general, so we do not forget, what peace means.

The Museum explores the history of Slovenia from 1914 up to nowadays. In addition to its exhibitions, the Museum also offers a variety of programmes for both children and adults. It carries out activities in the field of culture, education and research, collaborating with various institutions, and thus serves as a bridge between the general public and historical science. It connects the fates of 20th century Slovenian people and provides visitors with answers to questions about their own identity in modern times. The Museum also serves as a gathering place for groups of all kinds and as a place for dialogue and reflection. This is a great museum, located in Tivoli Park, following the modern history of Slovenia during the 20th century. Well laid out chronologically and with translations into English, it offers a range of exhibits, including some fascinating films. Downstairs was a photographic exhibition of the work of Edi Šelhaus which we especially enjoyed. At €8 for the family to go in, this was great value for money and for us. the most interesting and enjoyable museum in Ljubljana.
