Renowned for its modernist lines and futuristic design, Brasilia is a study in urban planning and the only city built in the 20th century to be counted among UNESCO's World Heritage Sites. Where only five years before its inception there was desert, now there are innovative buildings and imaginative monuments, ranging from the hyperboloid Cathedral of Brasilia to the lunar-esque Complexo Cultural da Republica to the glass-box Palacio da Alvorada.

Designed by Oscar Niemeyer, the Museum began construction in 1999 and was inaugurated on December 15, 2006. Today, it is a member of the Cultural Ensemble of the Republic and administered with funds from the Federal District Government (GDF). The National Museum of the Republic was already featured in the Brasilia Pilot Plan Report, prepared in 1957 by Lúcio Costa, and was designed to be part of the Southern Cultural Sector of the New Capital. The Museum represents an architectural synthesis of high modernity that makes up the monuments of the Esplanade of Ministries. Meeting point, visitation, inspiration, art appreciation and learning, we are open doors to receive you. We encourage curiosity, diverse looks and the sharing of ideas. Days and Hours of Operation: From Tuesday to Sunday. From 9h00 to 18h30.
The building has something. It works as a gallery space by being interesting enough, very functional and not dominating the art work. We saw the personal collection Sergio Carvalho, Contraponto, and it was excellent. The man has taste and understands art. Catch it while you can.
