Centrally located Umbria's principal cities include Spoleto, Assisi, and Terni. The capital, Perugia, is famed for its chocolate. Take a tour bus or prepare for daredevil Italian drivers if you opt to rent a car. Assisi's Basilica has a host of treasures, including works by Giotto. The town is also home to the crypt of St. Clare, patron saint of television. St. Francis' meditation retreat is in the mountains to the north. Classes at Velia's Cooking Style in Terni make good use of local produce.

Arriving in Borgo San Faustino you feel the sensation of being in a place where tranquility and peace blend with nature. The houses of the 14th century, forming the village, have been beautifully restored recreating a warm and romantic atmosphere. Inside the estate of 300 hectares of woods and meadows and streams that form a small lake, there are herds of cattle and the famous Chianina Cinta Senese pigs, the farm with crops and orchards, gardens, deer and wild boar living in total freedom in the private reserve. The Borgo San Faustino is now a Relais. Its simplicity and its surroundings infuse warmth and harmony. Everything contributes to make the stay unique and unforgettable experience: rooms carefully refined, peaceful atmosphere is elegant and quiet.
A beautiful drive into the vine and olive-covered hills above Orvieto takes you to a charming hotel where one is pampered mercilessly. At first the room appeared a little basic but as we became used to it the spaciousness and comfort became apparent. The supporting service was always excellent and the the quality of food was outstanding and beautifully presented. The menu was the same for all four days, which was disappointing. I would definitely visit again but would explore local food options if staying for more than a few days.

Located in Umbria in a wonderful panoramic position with Trasimeno lake view, this hotel provides the ideal base for your holiday. The old stone house was finely restored and furnished in 19th century style. It offers very romantic rooms with a fan and air conditioning.Typical umbrian food is served in the restaurant.Il Cantico della Natura has an intimate wellness centre with jacuzzi, sauna and turkish bath.
Outstanding resort. The views are breathtaking and the layout of the resort is fantastic! But what really makes this place so special is that you are treated like family. A very special mention for Francesca in the restaurant. She runs the breakfast service and is the most wonderful person. She was like a nonna to little son and we felt like we were part of her family the way she fussed over us the whole time! Such amazing memories. I will be going back for sure!!

We stayed for three nights. Very romantic little complex in a rustic town. The appartments are located in the small streets of the town. There are a lot of stairs, but they are not steep. Downside is that there are no balconies nor is there a pool. But we knew that of course when we booked.

I booked a night at Borgo la Chiaracia with two friends in order to spent a very relaxing weekend. The structure was nice and new but the services were very disappointing. We had a lot of expectations regarding the “private spa” services but they was actually very poor (just 2 types of sauna, a Turkish bath and a small indoor swimming pool). But the most disappointing thing was that the check-in was at 3pm and the check-out at 12am of the following day, without the possibility to continue using the swimming pool or other services, it means that the staying allowed is less than 24h! In my experience is the first time it happens, I’ve often visited resorts and I’ve been always allowed to stay after the check-out enjoying the swimming pool or the spa (obviously paying massages or treatments!). The only solution proposed after we asked to stay if was to extend the check-out with a supplement of 60€ which we considered completely absurd especially because our intention was to have three massages of totally 300€. I highly recommend the structure to become a more flexible and coherent since when I booked I specifically asked and they told me It would have been possible to remain after the check-out. I think the main objective of this kind of structure should be to satisfy customers but we couldn’t find any openness or flexibility. In my opinion this place doesn’t offer a good value for money. For what concern the Radici restaurant, the service as well as the meal were excellent and definitely worth it!

A very pleasant stay. New rooms, very modern and clean. It’s silent even though it’s right in the center. Restaurants and parking space are all in walking area. The breakfast was a dream! A lot of choice between sweet and savory food and a lot of homemade cakes, breads, fruit juices and marmelades. We will come back soon ❤️

Set on a 212 acre estate on the hills of southern Umbria. It’s an ideal place for a relaxing stay where you can devote your time to sports and outdoor activities and at the same time enjoy the natural and artistic beauties of this extraordinary region. Each room is different; the size shape and layouts. Touches of modern elegance offset the antique furniture with separate glass enclosed showers, some with Jacuzzis and dual sinks.
Our stay at Griffin’s Resort was lovely. All staff members were friendly and made us feel very welcome - with a special mention and thanks to the restaurant staff: Laura and Patricia. Laura was so warm and welcoming, always greeting us with a smile. She was very attentive and made us the best coffee! Breakfast was served (cold) buffet style with a wide selection of homemade breads and pastries (all very delicious!) - you could also request a hot breakfast. We all loved the fresh, homemade pasta and bruschetta at the restaurant - even our 16 month old fussy eater couldn’t say no! The food was always delicious and served promptly. And as we are vegetarian, they tried to adapt the menu to suit our dietary needs. The ingredients were always fresh and Patricia’s cooking always tasted like it was made with lots of love and dedication. I should also mention the view from the restaurant is beautiful and eating outside is even better! Delicious food, beautiful views and superb service - what more could you ask for! 5* for the restaurant and staff! We stayed in room 102 - our room was overall lovely, it was spacious and clean with a separate spacious bathroom area. The decor throughout was modern with a splash of Italian chic. Our jacuzzi bathtub was large and comfortable - however it was easy to slip in the bath and we had a couple of close calls! The jacuzzi was self cleaning and would turn itself on every now and then - which was slightly disturbing especially when we just put our baby to sleep, but we all got used to it after a while. The bath also had handheld shower facilities - shower pressure was great but water went everywhere as there was no shower glass/curtain. The hot water took a couple of minutes to warm up. The room temperature was lovely and we could adjust the AC to suit our needs. Would have been nice to have tea and coffee facilities in the room. We received complimentary water bottles in our mini fridge on our first day but had to buy water from the restaurant thereafter. WiFi connection was good indoors but dropped as you go outside towards the pool area. The outdoor space is gorgeous with breathtaking views - the garden space is always well maintained and inviting with lots of seating available. The pool was a good size with beautiful views - but sorry to say, was a little on the dirty side. Overall we had a pleasant time at Griffin’s despite the little niggles. We would definitely come back as it is a lovely hotel with great staff and beautiful views.

We stayed 2 nights in Casa Nazareno.Good location, bus stop nearby with buses to the train station, escalators to the old center 400 m away. Very quiet room, very clean, with basic comfort. Very good communication with the employees. Cooperation with some restaurants in Spoleto, reception makes reservations if desired. Friendly staff. You can sit in the garden and there is a small terrace too. Disadvantages · It is a former monastery, to which a nursing home for eldery people is still attached. There is little fun. A door connects the nursing home with the guest area. That door was regularly open, allowing the elderly to get into the guest area and cling to you. Right next to that door are the stairs down, which is dangerous for older people with walking difficulties. No fridge in the room, but a communal fridge in a room where there are also drinks vending machines. Hard towels in the bathroom. Breakfast is also basic, but sufficient, with mainly sweets. Fresh fruit and yogurt are available. All in all, price, quality is OK. And it is a good location for a visit at Spoleto.

This B&B is superb. The place is spotless and the owners are truly welcoming. The location is good for traveling around and seeing Umbria. The bedrooms are very comfortable and you can relax in the peace and quiet. The thing that sets this place apart is the breakfast.... this was incredible. There was a selection of local meats and cheese as well as sweet cakes. Truly this place is 10 out of 10.
