My family & I have lived in Mexico for 9 months and take mini vacations throughout Mexico. Our stay at Don Quijote has been the WORST. When vacationing, the hotels we choose impact our entire vacation - so choose wisely! Unfortunately as soon as we walked in and met the staff, our hearts sank. We immediately knew we made a MISTAKE. First, this hotel is far from Centro Historico - about a 12 min up-hill walk. The hotel is in a remote part of the city. and the walk back at night is uneasy and discomforting. Second, the hotel is NOT pet-friendly. Mexico is one of the most pet-friendly countries in the world! We rescued a 3-month old mini Chihuahua last month that we carry in a sling carrier. He does not bark and is potty trained. Management fined us $800 Pesos for the one night we stayed there because of the dog. This is fraud. The room was underwhelming. For the price, you expect the room to have a mini-refrigerator. Nope! The food in SMA is delicious, so if you bring back leftovers, there is no refrigerator to store it. No ice-maker in the hotel either. When I asked for ice, maintenance served me ice in an old yogurt container he found in a bottom shelf at the bar. The room was HOT since the AC did not work properly! It was a sweaty night. The TV did not work either. I wanted to watch the Canelo fight, but the channel had no sound! Maintenance told us to just deal with it. I write this review to warn others not to stay here. DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE WE DID. Stay elsewhere!

When you arrive you will most likely have to ring the buzzer for access into the hacienda. This put's you at ease and feels very safe from the moment you enter the premises. We were welcomed by the receptionist who was very nice and showed us to our rooms and also gave us a tour of the grounds. The rooms are very nice and have all the amenities that you will need. Breakfast was amazing and I would definitely recommend you trying it. You will have to reserve this the night prior before . It comes out to about 5 USD for breakfast. We stayed here for a wedding and I would definitely come back. If you are needing to go downtown the cheapest way is to take the bus that says routa 8 or 9. This will get you downtown for about 8 pesos.

It was a nice stay and the staff was very kind. You need a car to go to downtown but the price is very reasonable for the location! We found a dirty toilet and you can hear everything that is happening in the rooms beside.

I stayed at this place with my family and noticed mildew issues in almost every single room, it was a busy weekend and everything was booked and we had no other choice but to stay there. When I came back to home I started having breathing issues, when I went to the doctor I was confirmed my health issues were due to mildew exposure. The treatment isn’t pleasant and it is expensive, please avoid this place until the host fixes the issue. I took pictures that shows this issue has probably been there for years, please be aware!!

This hotel is a bit off the beaten path for American tourists but that's why we loved it and we had an amazing experience. We spent 3 nights here while visiting San Miguel de Allende and Queretaro. Even though this is a hotel catering to business guests, they made our family of four feel very welcome. The kids swam in the pool and the adults were able to partake in the spa (massage and facial). The hotel is beautifully appointed with a sophisticated Mexican feel. The art and photos on display throughout the hotel are curated from the local area, which makes it feel very unique. From what I can see, each room is decorated differently and has a special, personal feel. The bed was very comfortable, with a firm memory foam top. The international cuisine at the restaurant is excellent. The shrimp bisque is very yummy and I would definitely recommend the Amor de mis Amores dessert. It's very rich and one portion is enough to share among 3-4 people. The staff is friendly and attentive across the board. You'll have a very distinctive and memorable stay here, whether it's for business or pleasure.

Casa Aliz is a little hotel right in the heart of San Miguel located in one of the most beautiful streets. The hotel is only two blocks from the main square where you re gonna find all the restaurants, bars and museums.
Casa Aliz was exactly what we needed for our one night stay before we checked into a larger Airbnb. Our room (the king bed with a pull out couch) was generously sized and worked well for the 3 of us (2 adults, and a 4 year old). Note - it is on the ground floor facing the street, but it honestly wasn’t that noisy. Everything seemed very clean, the staff was helpful and you couldn’t ask for a better location - in a quieter part of Centro just off the beautiful Parque Juarez. For the reviews with complaints, I’m not sure what one expects for under $100 per night but we thought it was a great value.
