cross the main courtyard with its climbing roses and fragrant wisteria, before crossing the threshold of the Doctrinaires College, and discover the salon of honor with its monumental stone fireplace. built in the 17th century, this building was completely renovated and transformed into a prestigious hotel by the architect Sebastien Desroches and the landscaper louis benech
I booked this as it was near to a relative we were visiting. We have stayed in Lectoure before, but before this hotel opened. I have to say, everything about the hotel was superb. We booked the privilege apartment as had two separate bedrooms, along with a sitting room with dining table and chairs, and an excellent mini kitchen. I was staying with my sister and our dad. We loved the apartment, we used all aspects of it. They provide l’occitaine toiletries, which we love, kettle and nespresso coffee machine in kitchen, super hairdryer, bath robes and flip flops (good to use for the termé baths over the road!). There is a free public car park opposite the hotel where we parked our car. We had breakfast every morning, think about 14€ per head. Lovely coffee, juices, eggs cooked to order, yogs, fruit, pastries, bread, butter and jams, cheeses, ham and salami. There are places to eat breakfast in the town, literally a 2 minute walk, but we were quite happy with the breakfast provided. The gardens and hotel all immaculate, house keeping very efficient. The ladies on reception all very pleasant and helpful, recommending us restaurants and places to visit, and booking tables for us. We ate at Racine and Cigale é Fourmi - both excellent. For lunch we bought bread from the bakery right at the top of the hill (I believe this is open all day) and cheese, tomatoes and grapes from the shop on the main high street. Note - most places are shut on a Monday, however, there was a local food and craft market by the corn hall late afternoon on the Monday, and the chef who used to own La Barbacane at the top of the hill, was cooking freshly prepared arancini balls and vanilla beignets! Delicious! We ate them on the terrace at the front of the hotel with a beer and a bottle of chilled rosé. A very relaxed evening. We used the termé (free admission for hotel guests - there is no other pool at the hotel). It’s open 14.00-19.00. Remember to take your swim suit. We took swimming hats but were told we didn’t need them. We had a couple of lovely, relaxing afternoons using the pool and very powerful water jets, steam room and jacuzzi. All in all we really enjoyed the hotel, would highly recommend. Special mention to Stephanie, Charlotte and Demelsa, however, all members of staff very pleasant, helpful and knowledgable. Thankyou. We will definitely be back ?

Boutique bed and breakfast in the heart of the gers. Located in the heart of the gers, the villa marambat is a bed and breakfast of character - an ideal place to recharge your batteries in complete serenity. Aline and Jean-Pierre are delighted to offer you three charming rooms in their pure gascon style late 18th century home.
We loved this house from the minute we arrived.the host and hostess were kind and generous and also good fun. They clearly invested them selves in the property and it was lovely. The rooms were a good size. They were also clean and had everything one could need. We walked out from the property for about an hour on our arrival to try to get the 6 and a half hours of driving out of our legs. We had a quick bath and then down for a drink and dinner. The four of us ate together and the food and wine were exceptional. All local produce were possible. We had a comfortable night and a good but simple breakfast. It was truly excellent.

Jean-Claude and his 3 daughters are lovely people. Nothing is too much trouble. The homemade food is excellent and the rooms are spacious and modern. The cat and the horses are lovely too. Only 15 minutes walk into the village of Mirande.

We were looking forward to a birthday treat for my wife. Wow, did we get it SO wrong. First we were booked in 'La Village', which is a house about 100 metres from the hotel. We were supposed to know this, but I confess I booked a package and didn't check for further details. Who expects their room to be 100m from the hotel? A mountain goat may have made the trip ok, but its not what one expects from a 4 star hotel. This was a shabby converted house with pokey rooms, cheap furnishings, and no air conditioning for the 30 degree day. Terrible would be praising it. We returned to the hotel, and let them know that we wouldn't be staying in the room because, well, it was disappointing. We planned to stay for dinner tho, and make the 15 minute drive home afterwards. What was amazing, is that the woman we spoke to told us that this wasn't her fault, and in fact was our fault for booking the wrong room. Her aggressive demeanour and raised voice was quite shocking in what should be a luxury hotel, and based on this we decided to leave. Its sad that a single individual can create such a poor impression, but this time it certainly was the case. So the final score is that the hotel kept my deposit of €200, but missed out on twice or 3 times that each year of further business and any chance of a future recommendation. It would appear that the occasional reviews that cited a poor attitude from the staff were far more accurate than I expected. La Monastere, you should be ashamed of yourselves. In over 40 years on travelling all over the world for work and pleasure, this is truly the worst experience I have ever had in a hotel.
