The Coconut Beach Lodge and Spa is a place where guests feel at home while enjoying the personal service of the hotel to the fullest. In front of the lodge is a 300 m wide, snow-white private beach. Here, the former owner lovingly planted coconut palms more than 30 years ago. These palm trees give the beach today the incomparable charm.
What a beautiful place! The view of the room was just beautiful. And all of the trees and plants were so nice. But what we liked most was the atmosphere. It was relaxed, laid back and it felt authentic! We had been to other places at the coast but this one was the most beautiful. The snorkling in front of the Lodge is also something else. An easy going place!

Jamala House is light and centrally located next to Lamu Fort in the historic oldest part of Lamu. It is a quiet and private resort with a relaxing garden compound. All rooms have private bathrooms with hot water. There is a kitchen for common use and couches to relax as well as a rooftop with a great view of the sea. Me Baji, the manager, am also happy to give advice on good places to eat, get you a nice boat trip on my own Dhow or help you with any other questions.
Getting to Lamu, Badji, Jamala's manager, greeted me from the airport. He also introduced me to a tour guide (Abbas) where I had a very detailed and comprehensive understanding of lamu interms of history, current social structure and furture prospects. Badji is an incredible host who ensures all his guests enjoy their time and caters their stay to their needs as he learns them along the way. He also took me and a few others on a dhow sunset trip which I must add was the highlight of my stay. I highly recommend you stay at Jamala house if you are looking for a serene, authentic experience with a very practical location and simple design. One last note: while in lamu, take a look around town and pay the local (non-tourist targeting) vendors a visit, you will find that they have a lot to offer.

Wonderful place to be. The staff are very friendly, located in the centre of Wundanyi, the place is close to almost all the facilities one may need, from Health facilities, market, banking, transport and public transportation, all the way to the Wundanyi Stadium for your exercises and sporting events. The food is excellent and its all freshly prepared. The rooms and comfortable with hot running water wifi and even a television. The rates are very reasonable.

I spent a night and a half at the hotel this past weekend. A half because they allowed me to check in at 4am and not pay for it, which was actually something that I received very well. However, there were other aspects of my stay that may not have been significant for the hotel management, but which made my stay unpleasant. For example, the safe in my room wasn’t working. The batteries in the battery compartment of the safe were so old that they had leaked, and so the safe’s insides were messy and greasy. Secondly, the wifi was probably working half the time I was at the hotel, something that I found inconveniencing as I was also working. Finally, I was ushered into my room (1201) and the AC switched on. Since it was 4am when I checked in, I was too tired to exercise diligence on the workability of everything in the room. What I didn’t know was that the AC wasn’t working at all. Well, it could come on and huff, but the AC’s draught at 16 degrees was at about the same temperature as the humid air outside. Overall, I feel the hotel is rather too casual with guest comfort. But it’s a hotel that I won’t ever patronize again.

Welcome to Alawi Boutique Hotel web site Alawi Boutique Hotel offers the feature of staying in a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere, pay attention to the details, on one of the most beautiful beaches of Kenya. Five rooms available to our guests, tastefully furnished in the typical coastal style (Lamu Style) and equipped with all comforts to satisfy every relaxation requirements as well as business. The staff of ALAWI Boutique Hotel will welcome you in the magical atmosphere of the Swahili Coast. THE LEGEND OF ALAWI… The ALAWI name recalls the legend of a rich and famous merchant of the 18th century, Sheikh ALAWI, that in his many business trips between the Gulf of Aden and the Coast of Kenya, staying inside the reef, at warm, calm waters of the coast, he met, fell in love and married a beautiful native girl with the exotic name of KASKAZI (Typical monsoon wind name of the East African Coast) daughter of humble local fisherman. It has been so great the love for KASKAZI that ALAWI, which unlike normal social custom of polygamy, married and lived all his life with only one…KASKAZI. From the marriage four children were born male, and in honor of the beautiful, beloved wife, they were called by names of typical coastal winds, “SHUTA, JAMBA, MALIZA, KUZI”. Legend narrate that all the children have become great merchants and navigators, by virtue of the teachings transmitted by the parents and to honor their names. The legend does not tell much more, but it is enough to recognize what we all would like for ourselves, happiness, love, devotion to work. Is in this kind of spirit and in the memory of a romantic legend by the happy ending and a good omen, that we wanted to call our Boutique Hotel, just as Sheikh ALAWI (in ancient Arabic means Heavenly), and devote the names of the rooms KASKAZI his wife and the four beloved children, SHUTA, JAMBA, MALIZA, KUZI. This is what we want to wish to all our guests.
i travel to the beach often for the food ,ocean view and definitely the architecture. I love beautiful swahili styles and have turned my home to a beach vibe after visiting Alawi for the first time, the place smells incredible from the nice airy rooms to the rooms and the lounge. I loved swimming at the clear blue oceans and walking along the beach in the afternoon. please note: A boutique its a petite hotel not bigger and everything is under the same villa, though there is an option of choosing a large villa for groups.

Do not book through hotels.com whatever you do and do not stay here! I made a booking for a hostel in Kenya and upon arrival the hostel (Diani Hostel Ukunda) told me very in an unpleasant way that they had no affiliation with hotels.com and was fully booked, which left me completely stranded. I tried to get a refund over 2 months from hotels.com, and contacted them 8 times. Each time they reassured they would process the refund and get back to me, but they never did and I never got my money back..

This hotel is Covid-19 protocol compliant! The service at NCBH is excellent...from the time you check in to the time you leave, you're home away from home. All the staff serve with a smile and are helpful. They are really great for families and have many activities to keep the children busy. Their meals are tasty and cater for every taste. The only shaky thing for me was the internet but this was sorted as they opened the Business Centre for me and it made working from here stress free.

Visited the place with my family this past weekend we had booked through airbnb. Stayed for 3 nights in a 2 bedroom apartment that was spacious but the showers have low pressure and take a while to warm up,all rooms are air conditioned which is great considering if was very hot. There were no mosquito nets in the second bedrooms,we'd booked for a certain number of people but there weren't enough beddings for the rest we had to incur an extra cost to get bedsheets. The building has a lift and is right next to the public beach which is good for walking in the morning but over crowded later in the day. The pool is not so bad but there was only one poolside bed. After a swim on Friday we ordered some french fries that took over 90 minutes to be ready, wait staff weren't very friendly at all and they were outright rude.

The hotel is located in the coastal city of Mombasa, Kenya. The environment is serene. We offer a variety of services, they include bed and breakfast, full board and half board accordingly. We have a 24hr service desk that provides excellent service. We are located 5kms from the Moi International Airport,5kms from the Mombasa Standard Gauge Railway Station and 4kms from the town centre.
The hotel surroundings surprised us as we drove from the airport- everything is under construction, but so is whole Kenya. The rooms were small, below european standards, clean and the staff was excellent- very friendly and helpful. We stayed only one night as planned but it was really a touching experience and during our good byes it felt like leaving our family.
