My husband and I were a little nervous to visit these baths but decided to go after visiting Caracalla baths (which we found to be more like a thermal swimming pool). We are so glad we did!! We went on a mixed day. You start at the locker rooms and feel a little sheepish as you walk through to the first station, but after that you quickly settle in and realise it's not that scary. The first few rooms are hot steam rooms and then you move to a scrub (if you get the wellness package) and to the various saunas and spas. There are 17 steps, each noted on a sign at the relative stop (they helpfully give you suggested times to spend at each stop). We finished up faster than the 3.5hrs and went back to saunas/spas we particularly liked... You have ample time so don't rush! We really loved the experience, it was very relaxing and we will 100% visit again. The spa was itself very beautiful and felt very safe. The sleeping room was also a great part of the experience.

Don't be fooled by the boring outside. The inside is lovely. A number of warm pool options that are clean and relaxing. In fact the whole place was very clean and well presented. The Sauna area is awesome. Lots of Sauna options and the panorama deck on a warm day is just amazing. very relaxing in the sun with options to lay in the pool or on deck chairs. Very easy system to pay for things with the chip bracelets. Only two minor issues I would raise are that all signs are in German. We managed with our poor German but for a tourist attraction it would be helpful to have at least some English translation even if it was in very little writing. the layout is not the easiest to figure out initially even with the wall diagrams. Tip: If you are going to use the Sauna area use the lockers there for your gear so you can get easy access if you need to.

MineralBad Cannstatt

This was one of the highlights of our trip!! Weather was very balmy for December which allowed us to spend a lot of time in the outdoor pool. The complex is kept super clean! With indoors and outdoors pools, different bubble-stations within the pools, it was a lot of fun and unexpected. Our timed-token had expired slightly, so we had to pay a bit extra. There are proper lockers for your clothes and belongings in the change room. You simply use the token the cashier gives you when you pay and place it into the slot of the locker which then releases a key-wrist-band. No need to put your valuables into a separate locker near the entrance. You’ll save a bit by not doing that. We took the subway to the closest stop then walked the rest of the way – a pleasant 15-20 min walk. When we came back, we took the bus to the subway stop. A nice area of town I would not have visited otherwise. Allow a couple of hours to make full use of your two-hour session plus getting there and back. Hidden gem, I would certainly go back.

The bathing area with its large variety of bathing pools and the Roman saunascape with an outdoor area in the picturesque castle gardens invite you to relax and enjoy.

There have been thermal baths in Baden Baden since pre-Roman times, now they are housed in a modern glass-dome building on the edge of town. There are several baths with differing temperatures, from a "tepidarium" - hot water all the way to a "frigidarium" and yes it is very cold! There are powerful jets in several areas, excellent for massage, and waterfalls, and there is a pampering area and steam baths, also a sauna but we didn't use that. Swimming costumes to be worn apart from in the sauna, but towels are no longer supplied. Most of the pools are within the dome, but a curtained exit takes you outside to more pools There is a café next to the hot baths, and a restaurant outside the pools area, but still within the building Cost about 15 euros per head for 2 hours, we felt that was excellent value. Enjoy!
