Tiruppur or Tirupur ([t̪ɪɾɨppuːr] Tirupur.ogg (help·info)) is a city in the Kongu Nadu region of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Tiruppur is the administrative headquarters of Tiruppur district and the fifth largest urban agglomeration in Tamil Nadu. Located on the banks of Noyyal River, it has been ruled at different times, by the Early Pandyas, Medieval Cholas, Later Cholas, Vijayanagar Empire, Madurai Nayaks, Mysore Kingdom and the British. It is situated at the centre of the South Indian Peninsula, about 450 kilometres (280 mi) southwest of the state capital Chennai and about 50 kilometres (31 mi) east of Coimbatore.

After a busy visit to Dhyanalinga and Aadiyogi,we needed a calm and serene place to worship Lord Shiva, our driver suggested this place and we were blessed to be in Poondi Thirumuruganath Temple, wonderful Chola architecture and the entire temple is Adobe to many wonderfully sculpted Gods and goddesses Must visit if you are in Coimbatore

This temple is under the control of archaeology.. this temple has "Sugreeswarar" as the main deity and Ambal called as "Aavudai nayaki Amman".. Sugreeswarar is also called as "Milakeeswarar".. This temple has two Nandis in front of Lord Shiva.. Poornai-pushkalai sametha Aiyannar statue and saptha kanniyar statues are also seen inside the temple premises.. Main deity was worshipped by the monkey king "Sugreevan", hence the name Sugreeswarar.. Don't ever miss a chance to have darshan in this temple ..

This Temple is about 750 years old. The main deity of this Temple is Lord Muruga.. Siva vakkiya siththar meditated to Lord Muruga here. Hence the name Sivan Malai.. This Temple has around 250 steps. This also has a road route for the vehicles to Go to the hill top. Good parking space. Sivan and Ambal sannithis, Nava veerarkal, Nava kanniyar, Saneeswaran sannithi are seen in the outer praharam.. A box is kept in the entrance of the temple.. In this box, some things are displayed regularly. It is said that Lord Muruga come in the dream of some devotees and orders them To Inform the temple authorities to display the item HE says.. The devotees also come to the temple and inform the authorities about their information given by Lord Murugan.. After a pooja, the thing informed by the devotee is displayed in the box..
