10 Sights & Landmarks in Times Square / Theater District That You Shouldn't Miss

October 31, 2021 Almeta Stockton

Conquering New York in one visit is impossible. Instead, hit the must-sees – the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, the Metropolitan Museum of Art – and then explore off the beaten path with visits to The Cloisters or one of the city’s libraries. Indulge in the bohemian shops of the West Village or the fine dining of the Upper West Side. The bustling marketplace inside of Grand Central Station gives you a literal taste of the best the city has to offer.

The NYC Times Square Hilton is a beautiful, clean and very modern facility with great access to all of the principal activities of NYC, including Broadway, Lincoln Center and the poignant sights of the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. Reverent Christian worship place in a stunning setting. This beautiful church modeled on Paris' Saint-Chapelle was built in the late 1800s. Breathtaking Johnnes Kirchmayer wood carvings, Valentine D'Orgries murals, artwork and archtecture (see the descriptions of photos). *Note: Nov 2019 the front exterior is currently shrouded in scaffolding - do NOT let this deter you from entering and appreciating the interior beauty of St. Mary the Virgin.

Just off time square at Duffy Square side under the big red steps go to the booth as hawkers are hanging around offering all kind of incentives ta great service. Tickets become available for that evening at 14:00hrs and I believe to get the best is to be open minded to get a real bargain.

Good Morning America Studios

We watch GMA most days. We requested tickets about a month or so before our visit to NYC and got general admission tickets within an hour or so. We hoped to be upgraded to priority but were not. We arrived at the studio a little before 6 am on a very cold rainy day. It was actually easy to see where to line up and, we felt, very organized. Because there was virtually no one in the priority line we (and everyone near us) was upgraded to priority and got in fairly fast. Everyone we had contact with was very pleasant! It was so much fun to see behind the scenes! The warm-up guy worked very hard and really involved the audience. He was quite funny. Seeing the anchors was fun, seeing how it all works was both educational and enjoyable. We got good looks at all the anchors who were there that day. It was a high point of our visit to NYC. I highly recommend the experience as long as you accept some details, such as requesting tickets as soon as the date you want becomes available, the need to get there early, and the rules once you get in - such as using the bathroom before you get seated, not being able to leave and then renter and certain restrictions on using your cell phones. If you relax and embrace the experience you’ll have a great time!

Amazing selection of books and manga among other stuff! The little cafe upstairs was great too, got a few little treats and sushi. Which I was hesitant about because, most prepackaged sushi tastes like rubber, however theirs was soft like butter, it was pretty good! Well worth the trip if this is your sort of thing :)

This is a historic theater that's small and intimate for a show. Comfortable seats (more leg room that the typical Broadway theater).
