Tabriz (pronounced [tæbˈriːz] ( listen)) (Persian: تبریز; Azerbaijani: تبریز) is the most populated city in Iranian Azerbaijan, one of the historical capitals of Iran and the present capital of East Azerbaijan province. Located in the Quru River valley, between long ridges of volcanic cones in the Sahand and Eynali mountains, Tabriz's elevation ranges between 1,350 and 1,600 metres (4,430 and 5,250 ft) above sea level. The valley opens up into a plain that gently slopes down to the eastern shores of Lake Urmia, 60 kilometres (37 miles) to the west. With cold winters and temperate summers, Tabriz is considered a summer resort. It was named World Carpet Weaving City by the World Crafts Council in October 2015 and Exemplary Tourist City of 2018 by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.

On a weekday it might be easy to get to Kandovan but difficult to get back! First, a shared taxi to Osku (30000rial per person), driver drop you off at the roundabout. Then catch another shared taxi to Kandovan (70000 rial per person) However you might not find enough people to to share the taxi with and might have to go on a private taxi. ***best to find other travelers in Tabriz to go together to make it cheaper and easier ***a taxi driver quoted $20usd(while taxi) for a return trip plus waiting at Kandovan.(might be easier and faster if you have four or people to share) ***if traveling on your own, on your way back, be sure to try hitchhike with a local who's heading back to town otherwise it's impossible to find a taxi that go out on a weekday (we waited for an hour before a local is happy to take us back) Small you can spend 2-3 hours having a look at every cave shop and go to the hill ok the opposite and the free natural mineral water is also very famous there. This place is great for people who don't mind walking very steep steps and slopes!

Entering the yard, you can see two domes in brick (from outside); can't see anything blue, a little disappointing. The entrance portal is decorated mostly in blue with some calligraphy, beautiful, still, i would not say something extraordinary. Go inside the mosque, under the main dome, a good, peaceful, feeling, it seems sky is very close to you. Go further to the tomb of ruler(the ruler and his wife or daughter, that's not very important) look back at the entrance of the tomb (or private mosque of the ruler); there are some parts of the blue mosaics survived from looting in the wars and some earthquakes; for a moment imagine there is not any damage, all parts of the walls and domes covered in blue mosaics and floor in bright marble; yes, extraordinary, beautiful, eastern, one thousand and one nights, yes, turquoise of Islamic world, even if we need some imagination to complete this picture.
