Skopelos (Greek: Σκόπελος) is a Greek island in the western Aegean Sea. Skopelos is one of several islands which comprise the Northern Sporades island group, which lies east of the Pelion peninsula on the mainland and north of the island of Euboea. It is part of the Thessaly region. Skopelos is also the name of the main port and the municipal center of the island. The other communities of the island are Glossa and Neo Klima (Elios). The geography of Skopelos includes two mountains over 500 m (1,640 ft); Delphi (681 m/2,234 ft) in the center of the island, and Palouki (546 m/1,791 ft) in the southeast. With an area of 96 square kilometres (37 sq mi) Skopelos is slightly larger than Mykonos (85 km/33 sq mi) and Santorini (73 km/28 sq mi). The nearest inhabited islands are Skiathos to the west and Alonissos to the east.

Park down near restaurants . Walk just 100 yards back up the hill towards Skopelos a dirt road winds up to the right not suitable for cars . Nice approx half hour walk each way . Meandering through the forest on good wide track (see satellite map heading anti-clockwise about half of the trail) . Several vantage spots to see our goal a real photo opportunity called "Three trees "on the headland surrounded by turquoise sea . Deep gorge if you have passed it .Double back into the little paths in the woods as not signposted . Worth the view alone. Well recommended followed by lunch or a drink back in Agnontas . If you have watched Mamma Mia, the movie, you have already seen this Chapel! Nothing was photoshopped on screen, what you see is what you get. There is a steep stone staircase of a few hundred steps which you have to climb in order to get to the Chapel, but the view and the refreshing air on top of the hill make the climb worth it. The Chapel is a small ancient church, where one can light up a candle and pray. View from the Chapel is amazing, having a 360 degrees view of the island with its surrounding beaches. Once you make it to the top, you can get the romantic vibe as seen on movie, and mixing that with an amazing view and the Greek summer sea breeze, it feels like heaven. Best to visit with a flirt or your loved one, to experience a romantic little adventure;)

We walked to this beautiful monastery along the old mule track from Skopelos town. You can drive there also. It took us about one hour and it was steep in places. But the monastery was worth it. A monk showed us into the chapel and exhibition which is actually a shop. We bought a memento and left a donation towards the upkeep of this special building. The sense of serenely when in the chapel is remarkable. Take some time and visit, you will not be disappointed but keep your eye on the signposts as they are not in the best of condition.
