Pico Cao Grande is quite a unique landmark! I enjoyed the drive to the south of the island as well as the amazing view of the Pico. There is no way you can miss it, just keep driving south until you see it. Luckily, the roads are empty enough that you can always stop and take some great photos.

Marco do Equador at Ilheu das Rolas is a wonderful lookout situated where the Equator line crosses the island. From there you can get wonderful views of the main island of Sao Tome.

Well, I thought this was a great Idea :) I got engaged here recently after traveling by boat from Sao Tome. Great to have only 2 other tourists here. On the technical side - this is actually not the exact position of the equator but close enough... why spoil a good story with facts ;)

Great place, great visit! The Agostinho Neto Plantation used to host 2500 slaves. Renowned for its premium cocoa, went disused after the colonies' independence in 1975. Since then, the government let the locals stay and occupy every building, now falling into pieces, from the Lord's big mansion to the grand hospital, giving them free access to electricity and water and cable. Talk to the people who live there, tour with the local guide and buy some crafts or products to help the community!
