Bhimashankar Temple

Reviewed By Adityasaraswat1801 - Navi Mumbai, India

Visiting Bhimashankar Jyotirling Temple is an yearly trip for us friends, We generally do the 6-8 hours trek from Karjat to the temple through the forests but decided to do a Road trip to reach the temple this time, We started out from Borivili in Mumbai and it took us 5 hours and thirty minutes to reach the Temple, We took the left after the Talegaon Toll naka and joined the GPS - this took us to a shorter but scenic route to the temple, this is advisable for travel buffs with a decently strong car or sub as half the way your won’t find a proper road as roads are still being built in the area, But as a compensation for the hard ride for you and your vehicle you will witness the entire Bhimashankar valley in all it’s natural glory, cool winds, lot is rivulets in between, scenic shots of the mountain and valleys, friendly villager folks all along the way, While coming back we took the longer Manchar route back - Bhimashankar - Manchar - Pune - Chakan - Mumbai Pune Expressway. The Temple is a nationally renowned temple and is one of the Jyotir lings, which are must visit lord Shiva temples spread all across India, this one temple is very ancient, the temple complex is itself situated down in the valley and there are lots of steps to go down, The temple is a must visit in the winters and people should try the trek routes and the drive routes at least once.
