The main square as it’s know in Pollença old town. Cafe’s and restaurants situated around the square offering great food and drink. Lovely architecture, including the towns oldest church frontage which is beautiful. Great place to sit and have a coffee, glass of your favourite tipple or a meal and watch people go by. Also alas the best view of the Puig de Maria. We love to have a late coffee and brandy after a meal and relax in the chilled atmosphere.

Great road bike ride with beautiful scenery along the way. 2 really good climbs along the way. During the day, auto traffic is restricted from the entrance to the park road. However, auto traffic from Porte de Pollenca to the parking lot at the entrance can be quite busy. Steep roads and hairpin turns become a bit dangerous with tour busses and cars competing for position. Avoid this ride from late morning to mid afternoon, and particularly on weekends, as the traffic is tremendous. Once you are actually in the park, the only traffic is the tour busses which generally give you a wide berth. Be sure to stop at the lighthouse at the end and have a coffee and ensemada pastry!

I was surprised how great this holiday excursion was. We parked up easily on the edge of town and walked in. Climbed the steps to be greeted at the top by lovely Spanish guitar music being played by Spain’s equivalent to David Dickinson BBCs Bargain Hunt)

This hike around a steep winding road is not for the faint hearted but is well worth it for what awaits. At the top you will find a beautiful old church, perfect picnic areas, goats and a little cafe all complemented with a spectacular 360 view to enjoy. Ladies - Id strongly advise comfortable shoes or trainers as the path becomes particularly challenging and slippy towards the top.
