Morioka Castle Ruins

Reviewed By Annabele_8314 - New York City, United States

Historical place to visit Morioka Castle is a hirayama-style Japanese castle constructed in 1611. It was the seat of the Nanbu clan, a tozama daimyō clan who ruled over Morioka Domain, Mutsu Province in the Tōhoku region of northern Japan. The castle is located in what is now central Morioka, Iwate Prefecture, Japan If you're lucky then you'll see an amazing leaves with all kind of color in Autumn. I was so lucky to see those beautiful season in Japan.

Bearen Brewery Co.,Ltd.

Baeren Brewery is located in Morioka, Iwate, Japan. We have very traditional and old vintage brewing equipment from southern Germany, carried them into Morioka which locates in Tohoku, far north up from Tokyo. The traditional way of beer brewing still lives on here and Mr. Miyaki who got certificated as a Brewmaster VLB in Germany makes wonderful beers. We sell our beer at the entrance of our brewery so you can drink and get some special Baeren goods there.

Rock-breaking Cherry Tree

Reviewed By hfot2 - Vermont, United States

We had wanted to see Ishiwarizakura for several years, and it was in full bloom the day we finally decided to visit. The tree is much beloved by the people of Morioka and it certainly is a wonder pushing its way out from the cleft in the gigantic boulder. We took the train from Sendai and then the bus from the station. A one day ¥300 bus pass proved to be a good idea for seeing other sites in the city as well. Loads of people crowded around the tree to take photos. Local folks were acting as guides to those who wanted one, which is all well and good though I don’t know why one needs a guide for a tree; the problem was they stationed themselves in position in front of the tree at some of the best locations for photographing the tree and they didn’t move for maybe 10 minutes. Because of the location of the tree and the rather unfortunate buildings surrounding it, it’s not that easy to photograph without some ugly borrowed scenery in your shot. It was very touching seeing middle-aged and elderly folks holding photos of lost loved ones facing the tree. This sort of thing always makes me sad and happy at the same time.

I stopped to take a look/see and liked the simplicity of this shine which was having some work done on the entrance stairs; needed to enter from side; still ok.
