San Diego embodies laid-back California culture, complete with a Boardwalk, surfing communities, and outstanding Mexican food. Breathe in the fresh ocean air at Sunset Cliffs Natural Park, then gobble down a fresh fish taco at a La Jolla seafood joint. The naval aircrafts at the USS Midway Museum will have you standing at attention. A free Sunday concert at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion is the perfect way to unwind after a Saturday night bar-hop in the thumping Gaslamp Quarter.

The pedestrian bridge is a relatively new arrival on the San Diego scene; it crosses the train tracks and 6 lanes of traffic on the Harbor Drive roadway. It is a gleaming, futuristic, space age wonder and ranks at the top of the longest bridges of its kind in the world. The specifics are that the bridge is 550 feet long and the single pylon post is slanted at a 60 degree angle. It looks more like a giant ship's prow pulling into port or maybe it looks like it should be falling down, but what it is ... is nothing short of absolutely captivating. Views from the bridge are 360 degree views of San Diego. The bridge was completed in 2011 making this the new kid on the block (or the strikingly elegant elephant in the room). It is as beautiful at night as it is during the day.

This walkway along San Diego's waterfront gives visitors great views of downtown and a chance to choose from many restaurants along the way.
Walking along the Embarcadero is a great visual delight with sweeping views of the bay and easy to do with wide sidewalks. If you're there on a Saturday morning, you can shop the fish market of locally sourced seafood that's on a pier located just beyond Tuna Harbor and almost adjacent to Seaport Village. Go early for the best selection and metered parking is free prior to 10 a.m.

This time we cruised into San Diego on the Princess Cruise Lines. We walked from the cruise terminal to Seaport Village/Hyatt Regency area. This is a splendid walk by the bay. We saw the skyline, Midway, military statues, tuna fishing fleet, and more. The wal is very pleasant.

It is a great tribute to a great American performer who risked a lot to entertain our troops and bring a little enjoyment to the military. I am pleased that this memorial gives a new generation the opportunity to experience the comedy of this wonderful man

We arrived this time on a cruise (Princess cruise line) and enjoyed taking a walk from the Maritime History Boat Area to Seaport Village to the Hyatt Regency. We enjoyed the views. We also took a bay cruise, had dinner, explored the stores, and enjoyed the views from the bar on top of the Hyatt Regency.

The photograph of the couple kissing at the end of WWII is an iconic image and it had been recreated in larger than life size and full colour in the Unconditional Surrender Statue. The statue is located in a nice park area overlooking the USS Midway Museum.

Date of visit: December 10, 2019 Roguetrippers are huge fans of antique carousels (carrousels). The craftsmanship that goes into making them is definitely a lost art. When we arrived at Seaport Village the first thing we saw was this vintage LOOFT carrousel. Of course, we had to take a ride $3.00 per person to ride. They have some amazing animals that you don't often see on many carrousels. The ride was a good length of time. The girl operating was very friendly. This carousel is very well maintained and in great shape. What a beautiful way to start our day at Seaport Village. @rogue_trippers on Instagram and Twitter.
