This castle was built in the 14th century and is considered one of the finest Tudor house in Wales.
I have always wanted to visit Gwydir Castle since reading owner Judy Corbett's book 'Castles in the Air' over 15 years' ago. Sometimes the reality of a place doesn't live up to your mind's expectations but this was definitely not the case at Gwydir Castle. It is a fascinating time capsule of a place with beautiful stone buildings, a wonderful setting and intriguing gardens - complete with wandering peacocks! The quality of the ongoing conservation repair works is of the highest standard; so good that they are not easy to discern at first glance as owner Peter Welford pointed out to me. Massive credit to the owners for rescuing this marvellous place and opening it to the public for all to experience and enjoy. Allow plenty of time to visit as Gwydir Castle is unique and really quite spellbinding.

The Y Bont Fawr is a stunning old stone bridge over the River Conwy in Llanrwst. A little bit of a traffic bottleneck on the way back from Conwy heading south on a Friday at rush hour, as its narrow with no passing places. Still a special old stone bridge - well worth stopping by to admire or as we did drive over. Amazing that its still standing!

Hello, we are St Grwst Church. Born in the early 15th Century and located in the heart of Wales in the tranquil town of Llanrwst. Our walls have seen 550 years of rich history and religion and are the home to many a story, legend and myth. Come visit us and lose yourself in our stories, beautiful architecture and breathtaking surroundings. A successful bid to the National Lottery Heritage Fund is re-energising the church, conserving its fabric, connecting stories to the community; It will put the church back at the heart of the town and valley and create a cultural centre of excellence for the area and its people. We are currently closed to visitors but will reopen at Easter 2020.

We were admiring the exterior of this fabulous building when we happened across a chap who offered to let us look at the interior, it is fabulous with a working organ and all the pews still in place. The chapel is open at certain times and they have organ recitals as well... go along and visit, it is unusual to see a chapel like this so intact.

This stone circle was erected in 1951 as part of the Eisteddfod held in the town that year. The Eisteddfod take place annually over 8 days and are considered to be the largest poetry and music festival in Europe - it alternates between North and South Wales each year. It is a uniaue celebration of Welsh culture and language. The Eisteddfod festival has roots which may date back to the 12th Century - to add to other reviews I would say that it IS a special stone circle, and it does look older - perhaps because the stones are extremely ancient themselves. As for being fake or a replica - of what? a prehistoric one? It is a genuine Gorsedd Stone Circlewhich commemorates an important and historic event in Llanrwst (& as found in many other Welsh towns which have hosted the Eisteddfod). It is in a beautiful location next to the river, great for walks, has handy (free) parking nearby and the views of the surrounding forest and old part of town are lovely. And as a friend once wisely commented to me - "All stone circles were new once!!" so don't be dissapointed - by the thought of it being 'modern' - understand its hertiage!
