Highlights include the Dry Garden with its fantastic range of drought resistant plants, and the Hilltop Garden with its roses and herbaceous borders. There’s also a Global Growth Vegetable Garden, which showcases vegetables from around the world and a Winter Garden that celebrates the delights of wintertime. This place will be enjoyed by all the family, as there is so much to see there, as well as a nice restaurant, gift shop & plant centre where you can purchase some nice specimens to take home. Well worth a visit at any time of year.

A Cathedral in the heart of the city centre. Open daily for worship, prayer or simply to look round. There are many free concerts and exhibitions running throughout the year. See the Cathedral website for details; chelmsfordcathedral.org.uk There is no entry charge and we are situated just five minutes from the bus and railway stations.
Attended a further lunchtime concert, They occur on most Fridays from 12.30. Although it would be worth checking just in case there would be a need to change the schedule. Teas, coffees, sandwiches and cakes are sold from 12 noon by the most charming volunteers. This time it was the Brentwood School Big Band plus Choir. We have attended these lunchtime concerts many times over the years and would consider this Band to be the best event on their annual schedules.

Hylands Estate is a prestigious grade II* listed public park encompassing 574 acres of historic parkland. The beautifully renovated Neo-Classical elegant villa Hylands House can be hired for any occasion including Weddings, Celebrations and Business Events and is open to the public one Sunday a month. The Stables house a café, a second hand book shop and resident artist studios. Within the park there are formal Victorian Gardens and ancient woodlands that are accessible as well as an award winning accessible children’s Adventure Playground. With a list of seasonal events both within the House and the Park, Hylands Estate is the perfect place to visit and explore.
We spent a lovely sunny afternoon on the Hylands estate. This was our first time visit and certainly won't be our last. Beautiful well kept grounds, great for picnic. Beautiful house & gardens. A few stalls were selling homemade food & gifts. Well stocked pretty craft & gift shops at very reasonable prices. We had lunch in the stable yard café, polite quick service in pretty surroundings. Cannot believe that such beautiful grounds & house are both free to visit, very rare these days. Good amount of parking spaces and very good disabled access around the gardens & house. Can't wait to visit in autumn when the trees are golden.

This street can be found on the right hand side near the top of the High Street. This narrow street widens out into a pedestrian area & has some very popular retail outlets such as John Lewis & many more & as well as this there are cafes & restaurants for you to eat & drink in. Great place to chill & rest a while.

Great little place for kids at a reasonable price! Our little boy loved it! The farm also has a soft play area and outside area which is very clean. Friendly staff who provided us with wellies (free of charge) as we visited on a muddy day. The main garden centre has a cafe which is very clean and modern with a good selection of food and drinks and friendly staff. It also has a section just for adults.
