Washington DC is a hub for American politics and history. Attracting as many school field trips as it does travelers the district offers a peek into the country’s democratic origin. There are plenty of free museums to take advantage of but the real draw here is the memorials and monuments dedicated to great American leaders. Spend some contemplative time at the Reflecting Pool within the National Mall, among the most patriotic places in the country.

Visited to hear an author speak about newly published book (about female domestic terrorists in the 1980’s). Great venue and experience. The audience questions were interesting, intelligent, and inquisitive. Overall a very enjoyable afternoon and experience. The bookstore is world renowned for hosting famous and significant authors and speakers. Definitely worth the trip up Connecticut Ave to visit this iconic bookstore. Makes one feel hopeful about the future of the world, politics, the US, and retails stores.

A store specializing in new and antique jewelry, fine watches, engagement and wedding rings, and gifts.
Been working with Steve K for a year, each time we visit, speak on the phone, text or email, he's been very helpful and accommodating. When we come in the store, he and the entirety of the Tiny Jewel Box family have been very welcoming and helpful. We're never overwhelmed or not assisted to. My wife and I recently came into the store in December 2020 to browse, and I wanted to show my wife a few watches I've been interested in for potential gift ideas. I reached out to Steve K a few days before to see if he was available and if he could meet us. He responded immediately, and we set a time to meet. The last time I spoke to Steve K was 10 months prior where he picked up a random phone call I made to the store where I was seeking a bracelet extension for a watch I owned. Having no prior interaction with the store, he made me feel very welcome for an initial $100 purchase. At the same visit, I met several other staff and marveled at the watches they had. Every TJB staff member I spoke with had a genuine passion and spent time with me to discuss their timepiece and their story with it. When we met again in December 2020, my wife and I browsed several collections. We gave Steve an idea of what we were looking for and found the perfect watches for both of us. We look forward to building a long relationship with Steve @ the Tiny Jewel Box for years to come. There are already several pieces we're building towards.

The first museum of Latin American and Caribbean modern and contemporary art in the US is located just steps from the Washington Monument and the White House. AMA | Art Museum of the Americas of the Organization of the American States (OAS) is a hub for contemporary art produced in and about the Western Hemisphere. We promote social change by providing a lively space for educational exchange, new ideas, and creative expression. Within and beyond our gallery walls, we enrich our local and international communities by interconnecting artists, museums, and audiences across the Americas.
Tucked away between the Department of the Interior and the Organization of American States is this small, unique gallery. It's in an historic building so be aware---lots of stairs. I visited during a retrospective by Guatemalan artist Rodolfo Ablarach (beautifully detailed pen and ink works focusing on the eye) and an exhibition of pieces by iliana emilia and Scherezade Garcia (chairs were a focus). There's also a small permanent collection of South American and Caribbean artists. The museum is free, donations are welcome (it's not a part of the Smithsonian system). If you enjoy Latin American art, do visit. There's a statue of Simon Bolivar across the street, too.

More than just a wax museum! Madame Tussauds Washington D.C. is a fully interactive experience, where visitors are able to touch, see and hear historical icons and celebrities in a way unlike any other Washington D.C. attraction.
A lot of fun and great to see all the American presidents. We paid to have our photo taken in the mock oval office set up. It was well worth the price and gave us a wonderful momento of our trip to Washington DC. The Uncle Sam exhibit was also very good.
