Always an interesting place to visit if you want to see a slice of local life in Bhutan. A vast market selling a huge range of food products primarily. If the stall owners speak English, they are happy to tell you what they are selling and where it comes from. A great place to people watch and look for things you have never seen before. Just over the road is a really cool wooden covered bridge that is well worth a look as well.

As a chillip or tourist in Bhutan, I wanted to explore as much of the place given the short period of time I was staying in Thimphu, Bhutan. And with everything, I mean that includes the Organic Public Market. Since it was a walking distance to my hotel, I took my own sweet time in exploring the raw ingredients in the Bhutanese food I have sampled in the last few meals. The organic market was divided into two ~ the ground floor was where most of the vegetables and rice (red rice, yellow rice) and locally produced by Bhutanese farmers while the second level sold stuff imported from next door neighbor like India. As someone from a tropical country, most of the produce were also seen in my place except for the heaps upon heaps of fresh chili, dried red chili, chili powder and 'killer chili'. Many thanks to my guide Sajan Rai of Heavenly Bhutan who charmed the local vendors whenever I asked favor for a photo-op with them or their produce. This experience made me really interact with the locals up close and personal.
