At Cretan Lyra Workshop - Museum Stagakis, visitor can take a tour at Cretan Lyra museum by owner Manolis Stagakis. Can listen to traditional Cretan music from local players and try our musical instruments. Also can view the construction of a new Lyra.
When you are in Rethymno, Crete, do not miss this wonderful trove of musical treasures and knowledge. The exhibition of musical instruments, all beautifully hand-made is a great introduction to Cretan music. The generous hospitality included professional explanations and a demonstration. We highly recommend a visit.

A lovely surprise to find this shop in sleepy Maroulas as it’s a tiny village. When you enter the building you are met with beautiful aromas. Mariannas very helpful and knowledgable about the produce she sells. Well worth a visit.

In the oral Cretan dialect, athos means blossom. For us, the blossom symbolizes the beginning of creation. Thus, we have created a workshop of handmade natural personal care products in Angeliana. Based on organic Cretan extra virgin olive oil, in combination with pure raw materials of Cretan land, we create soaps, cremes, herbal extracts, soy candles and bath accessories. Our desire is to care for people in absolute harmony with nature!
ATHOS WORKSHOP is not a common family workshop but a workshop that is made with love , pure ingredients of high quality and products that are natural and friendly to everyone. I use ATHOS products and my little kid also . The first time I visited Athos I enjoyed so much the tour and I met this amazing couple that create with love and passion their unique products . When you try ATHOS you will feel the difference . All products are highly recommended! P.S. The soaps made miracles with children dirty and coloured hands!

Appointment needed ea ceramic studio was established in 2010 by Ema Ramanskaite and Aris Tabatsikos
Ema and Aris were great hosts and teachers for the one afternoon class(approx. 5 hours) I and my girlfriend took at their studio. It was inspiring to be learning from people who truly love what they do. The atmosphere is very relaxed and creative. We contacted them some weeks before taking our trip and they were very flexible (and patient) in preparing a class designed for our level of experience. In addition, Ema was great in firing and organizing the shipping of the pieces to our home after the class. Besides the class, they have incredibly well-crafted and beautifully designed pieces at their shop! Don´t miss it!

A favorite shop to stock up on all my favorite Greek products. Giant bags of Oregano and thyme, all sizes of boxes of Greek Saffron. Dried Sea Buckthorn and mulberries. Hand collected sea salt. Mountain Herbs. Their top of the line Haluva is perfectly crumbly and not cloyingly sweet, best I ever had. This is a store to check each shelf if you like great ingredients. Their prices are very good. They are the first stop I make. There is a new branch in Heraklion I hear. I like both shops in Rethymenon.
