Located on South Carolina's beautiful Grand Strand, Pawley's Island is the laid back alternative to the Myrtle Beach vacation. Shopping, dining, or golfing is all within reach. Just south of Myrtle Beach, Pawley's Island is best known for the Hammock Shops, a unique shopping experience of quaint small shops nestled under trees full of Spanish Moss. You can find everything from shoes to local artwork, or you might choose to go golfing on one of the many world-class golf courses in the area. While Pawley's is quieter and more relaxed than nearby Myrtle Beach, the latter's close proximity provides infinite possibilities for dining and nightlife. Murrell's Inlet, a quaint fishing village, and its bevy of seafood restaurants is just up the road and also has a Salt Marsh Preserve. Simple but delicious hamburgers at the River City cafe or finer dining at one of the hundreds of other restaurants are all within short driving distance. After dinner you might seek out one of the many venues for arts and entertainment. The Carolina Opry is well known for its amazing shows. You can see a live show or dance the night away…or both! Enjoying the beach is the obvious activity but there is so much more to do than just that. Parasailing is a popular option, as is a visit to the Huntington State Park to explore the local flora and fauna. The park has many programs to entertain and enlighten both the young and old. On the grounds is Atalaya, the home of the artist Anna Hyatt Huntington. Just across the street is Brookgreen Gardens which features many of the sculptures of the artist as well as the lovely manicured gardens.

During a vacation trip to Murrells Inlet my wife and I did a shopping trip to the Hammock Shops Village in Pawleys Island. The Hammock Shops Village is home to over 20 unique shops. Among our favorite shops was the High Country Olive Oil which sells all sorts of flavored olive oils and balsamic to choose from. You can sample the different flavors before you buy. The clerks here are very helpful in trying to match their selection of flavors to your taste. During our visit we sampled the garlic flavored olive oil and the wild blueberry and pomegranate flavored balsamic. We bought a bottle of each home. Delicious stuff. You can also order their products online.

Visitors will find us in one of America’s most historic and scenic coastal resorts, Pawleys Island, South Carolina. Cheryl Newby Gallery deals in authentic antique prints and maps, we also offer fine paintings, sculpture and ceramic works of art.
This gallery features the works of several professional artists from throughout the United States. It is upscale and the pieces are really very well done. Currently they are featuring two sculptors with outstanding bronze figures. There are wonderful paintings - some very large which are also very well done. The gallery represents about 8 artists and it is well worth the visit - you may easily succumb and purchase!

My Sister's Books, which opened in 2002, is located in one of the country's oldest resort communities - Pawleys Island, SC. The store is the realization of a dream for sisters Fran Clarkson and Bess Long. After both completed careers in the U.S. Navy, they founded this used paperback and books on CD bookstore that caters to locals and visitors alike.
Stopped here by chance with my two college-aged nieces and spent a great hour browsing and shopping for "beach" reads.

Coast was started in 2009 by two guys who loved the coast way of life near their beach homes in Pawley's Island, South Carolina. Our clothing lines are designed to take you back to the coast: in your heart, in your mind and on your back. They are comfortable and elegant in their cut, style and feel. It is our desire that when you put on a piece of Coast Apparel, it will ignite some of your fondest memories and place you in a coastal state of mind no matter where you are. Here at COAST, the drinks are cold, the breeze is sweet, the sun is shining and the dress is casual. If you share our love for the coast, we invite you to talk the talk, walk the walk and dress the part. Come see us at our new Flagship Store that opened June, 2014!

An illustrator, artist, interior decorator, & textile designer, Susan’s exuberant creativity can’t be put into one category. From her Map prints, toiles and patterns of local animals, plants and sea life, she makes totes, handbags, scarves, flip flops, wallpaper, pillows, bedding, fabric and trays to name just a few. There are products in all price ranges and made in the USA whenever possible.
Walking in puts a smile on my face - the store is beautifully laid out with gorgeous racks of hand sewn tasteful, timeless dresses and tops everywhere I looked!! I have a headband with a matching mask and get compliments whenever I wear them. The headband is perfect. I love that she designs everything and has them created by local seamstresses.
