Breathtaking Kristiansand was first settled in the early 5th century, with its modern iteration founded by King Christian IV in the mid 1600s. Home to many cultural, music, and arts festivals, the Norwegian city pulses with creative energy. Several museums celebrate local history and natural features, and the trails of Odderoyja are a wonderful way to breathe in fresh air while mingling with locals. Historic Oddernes church is a blend of architectural styles.

Glassblowing and goldsmiths Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city, where Rådhusgata almost meets Markensgate, you will find Galleri Knapstad, where the careful hands of two generations of the Knapstad family have created the most beautiful works of art over several decades. The oldest generation are goldsmiths. Surrounded by magnificent nature at the very end of Flekkerøy, they create unique pieces of jewellery that are strongly inspired by the nuances of nature. The jewellery is brought into the city, where it is displayed in the gallery, together with the colourful artistic works of glass created in the gallery studio. The heart of the gallery is definitely the huge oven where the works of glass are fired. At temperatures of up to 1160 degrees, liquid masses are transformed into exquisite, colourful artistic glass. This exciting process from start to finish can be experienced by visitors to the gallery.
