The charming Vietnamese capital has aged well, preserving the Old Quarter, monuments and colonial architecture, while making room for modern developments alongside. Hanoi may have shrugged off several former names, including Thang Long, or "ascending dragon," but it hasn't forgotten its past, as sites such as Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum and Hoa Lo Prison attest. Lakes, parks, shady boulevards and more than 600 temples and pagodas add to the appeal of this city, which is easily explored by taxi.

We visited the Empty Wall Gallery when we were in Hanoi in 2016. We wanted to make sure that we visited again during our recent visit. Ms. Yen has a wonderful selection of art at reasonable prices. She is so welcoming and it is a great experience to visit the gallery and look at the different art. They will pack or ship art for you. Don't miss the gallery.

This is the most unique studio that you will ever find in Vietnam. It is over 2500 m2, featuring a giant Thai style tilted wooden house. The garden has all the fanciful things that you could dream of such as two tree houses, a sculpture waterfall, a stream, a prison dungeon for some adventure times, a lot of sculpture pieces, lush garden, bird cage and more. Most importantly, the studio belongs to Dao Anh Khanh, the prominent figure of Vietnam contemporary arts scene. For years, Khanh has been the number one artist, who built contemporary arts of Vietnam from its beginning since 1995. Since then, he has hold more than dozens of large scale performances. He is famous for large scale performances, sculptures and musical and dance performances. While his performances are controversial and daring, his talent is widely recognized by both the local Vietnamese arts connoiseurs and international arts lovers and participants all over the world. Make it a stop on your trip to Hanoi to meet this extraordinary artist, see his beautiful personal gallery and have some tea at his wonderful studio and relaxing and lovely garden!
