Skokloster Castle is Swedens´ most important monument from the Swedish Age of Greatness when Sweden was one of the most powerful countries in Europe. It was built between 1654-1676 for the noble Swedish statesman and military commander Carl Gustaf Wrangel. It is a world class attraction from the Baroque era with some 50 000 objects in the collections. Sigtuna is often mentioned as the oldest city in Sweden with a city plan that goes back at least 1 000 years. You will feel the historic atmosphere when we walk along the main street (Stora Gatan). We will among other things see the old Town Hall on the Town Square, medieval church ruins, Saint Mary´s Church from 1247 and some genuine rune stones. We will walk on the waterfront promenade along lake Mälaren and there will be some time to eat lunch and to do some individual shopping and strolling in the old city center.

Linnaeus studied the different kinds of plants, and what it is used for. He also named each plant so others will know how to take care and use the plant for what it's purpose is for being there. It is walking distance to my Uncles house.

It is called taxonomy: a classification system for the natural world to for the naming of species and order them according to their characteristics and relationships with one another. He spent more than 50 years in Uppsala and we will walk in his footsteps and see and experience some of the things and sights he saw some 300 years ago. We did the Uppsala tour today. This guide, Magnus, has a great knowledge of the geography and history of the area. As we began the tour he asked if we had any special requests, and he adapted the tour to our wishes. We visited cathedrals, the Uppsala University, and other interesting sites including an outstanding Swedish pastry and coffee shop. Magnus knows his history well, and answered some specific questions I had about Swedish/Finnish relations. We both recommend this tour as among the very best we’ve ever taken.

Today the Stockholm Subway has more than 90 stations that feature art created by over 150 artists. Although they all form part of the same subway system, the stations and the art they contain are all very different. In 1957 T-Centralen was the first station to gain art, which means that we today can find art from six decades in the Stockholm subway. It’s not only the art but also the architecture, which makes the Stockholm subway appreciated and famous way beyond Sweden’s borders. Ever since the early 1970's most of the stations have been built as what we call cave stations. The rock face is covered with a layer of sprayed concrete, which follows the shape of the rock, giving an illusion of a station in a cave. The artists were working in long-term partnerships with architects and engineers to create complete environments rather than individual artworks. The cave stations are found on the blue Metro line and partly on the red Metro line.

Björn's Battle is the perfect challenge if you are living in Stockholm and/or you have a good familiarity of the city.

We took part in it with colleagues. It was fun to walk in Gamla Stan, discover a couple of new monuments and take som pics that the tasks list implied. The drawback is that there was no plot or something. You’re just given a list of tasks to do and you define, in what order to do them. The team which did more is a winner. Probably a good game for team building. I gave 4 because it cost me nothing- the employer paid. But if I paid a couple of hundred crowns for a game, I would probably want more.

Took part in this quest together with friends. I am kind of fan of all sorts of quests and escape rooms and alike, really like this type of activities. And this very game was exactly on that level when your brains need to work hard, but not melt and pour out through your ears because of too specific logic of game makers. Lagom, as the Swedish people would say. The game does not require deep knowledge about Stockholm which I would consider a plus — a tourist can enjoy it as much, as any resident will. Yet it makes you move and use your eyes, so you are going to notice something that you may have never noticed in everyday life. I like how the game makers used social networks for this game. What I missed a bit is, probably, finding some “real evidences” in real life. Like find a bag, open it, decipher a paper and so on. But it would require extra job for creaters, hence would cost more. But would be nice to have. Are you reading me, guys? :) if yes, consider my idea and send me a virtual hug if you implement it ???? I can’t but mention a plot. This game has a plot, it’s not just a chain of tasks like “take a pic of that monument with your teammates”. The plot is quite good, and the scenario of the game is developing around it. Good to know that after part one you can play another part. We are already choosing the date. No pics, sorry-were too busy ????
