10 Self-Guided Tours & Rentals in Agadir That You Shouldn't Miss

June 27, 2021 Chanda Heide

Soak up the sun on the well-maintained beaches of Agadir, southern Morocco's most-visited city. Palm-lined boulevards and beachfront bars add a decidedly Western-resort feel, amplified by the large number of Europeans who flock here in the winter months. It’s all about laid-back relaxation in Agadir, so ride a camel, rent a beach buggy, check out the Suq al-Had market or take the 20-minute walk up to the ruins of the Agadir Kasbah for expansive city views if you’re taking a break from the beach.

We had a great time even though the pools were dry due to drought (2 years in a row) and we could not swim. The guides spoke great English and German. There were some cafes inside of the Paradise Valley. The trip also included a visit to a herbary, where you can guy spices, argan oil, black soap etc.

10. Goats on the Tree in Agadir Morocco

Union Tours

After a gentle drive of 30 minutes towards the Agadir-Marrakech High-way, we will stop to spot the famous Goats climbing the argan trees. Goats in Morocco only climb one particular type of tree, the Argan Tree, That can only be found in the middle of Morocco around the atlas mountains. The tree produces small yellowish flowers, which then produce small fruit. The fruit’s seed is within a nut, which is further surrounded by soft flesh and tough outer skin. The fruit’s pulp is what attracts the goats to the argan trees. While the creatures will happily keep all hooves firmly on the ground and graze on low-hanging fruit, once they have gobbled the easy-to-reach produce they will scramble up into the tree in search of more. The fruit is not consumed by humans. Moroccan goats discovered a meal that they both enjoy and do not need to compete for. The return to the hotel is scheduled at around 12 o'clock.
