February 17, 2022 Frederic Celentano

Lazio (UK: /ˈlætsioʊ/, US: /ˈlɑːtsioʊ/; Italian: [ˈlatsjo]; Latin: Latium) is one of the 20 administrative regions of Italy. Situated in the central peninsular section of the country, it has almost 5.9 million inhabitants – making it the second most populated region of Italy (after Lombardy and just a little ahead of Campania) – and its GDP of more than 170 billion euros per annum means that it has the nation's second largest regional economy. The capital of Lazio is Rome, which is also Italy's capital and the country's largest city.

Due to COVID we were lucky enough to be the only two on our tour. As we had both been to Rome before our guide, Arthur, asked us what we wanted to see. We said we had done the main tourist attractions we were more interested in hidden gems and good places for food and drink. Arthur did a fantastic job. Completely off script his encyclopaedic knowledge of the city shone through. He knows every crack in every cobble and which Roman emperor put it there! He was super engaging and friendly and gave us more tips than we will be able to fit in on this trip- we’ll just have to come again! The tour was a highlight of the holiday, for us. Thanks Arthur.

After a friend recommended that I book a Segway tour in Rome for my boyfriends 30th, I started researching and not long after found Mario’s tours of Trastevere. He had absolutely glowing reviews and I felt excited to not only see some of Rome by Segway but to explore the beautiful Trastevere too! Well, we had an absolutely unbelievable time!! Mario was the best tour guide we could have asked for, so friendly and funny but also so knowledgeable and great at teaching first timers how to ride! Please book and experience this for yourself, both my boyfriend and I agree that this tour has been by far the highlight of our trip! Thank you Mario you’re an absolute legend!!

The Borghese Gallery is an amazing Roman jewel. Someone recommended it and we were able to add this to our time in Rome. Taking a tour was the best choice as the stories behind the art and the hidden info on the creation of the art are so important to understanding what took place as it was collected. While I had to choose a 2020 date, our tour was in October 2019 so there was no pandemic and no need for masks!
