Las Vegas' only non-profit children's museum. The mission of DISCOVERY Children’s Museum is to provide a vibrant and engaging experience, through exhibits and programs, where children from economically and culturally diverse backgrounds actively participate in playful learning experiences that ignite a love of lifelong learning.
If you are a family visiting Las Vegas, we highly recommend this activity. Probably best for children from ages 2 through 10. There are three floors with a myriad of interactive activities that will stimulate the mind. And for slightly older children, they can pretty much roam free and without any worries. And if smaller children get lost, the staff are really excellent at detecting this and tracking down anxious parents. There is no restaurant on site so bringing food or a picnic is probably a good idea. You can eat outside and they will permit reentry if you give them the heads up. They also validate parking. And all of the staff were very polite and pleasant. Also, watch out for entry discounts. Standard tickets are approximately $14 but you can get greatly reduced rates, to approximately three dollars come if you have WIC or similar cards.

This is a great learning experience if you want to learn about our human body of anatomy and physiology and worth the price for 4 people its like 70 plus something around that price try to find discounts too. It's a medium size museum but it takes about 1 hour or so to tour the entire museum. Everything about our human bodies are here and really unique to see. I think if you have a test at school in science go check this out this is real. For the price it's worth it for kids and adults.

The various levels of involvement for children is fantastic. They are engaged and enthralled with the interactive displays including history and science.

The geology and mining museum on campus since 1908. Located in the Mackay school of mines the Keck museum features minerals, mining artifacts, fossils, and many other interesting and unique objects of Nevada's geologic and cultural past.
I brought my 8 year old granddaughter here on a quiet weekday and we spent almost 2 hours exploring! With no one else there, we felt it was "our place" as we enjoyed the beautiful displays on 3 levels, including the "secret basement" gems! She especially enjoyed seeing the birthstones for each month. We also enjoyed opening all of the easy to slide drawers downstairs to discover fun documents. A totally cool place if you have curious intellectually curious kids or are a geek yourself. A bonus was a random guest appearance by head of the museum who was obviously amused to see us enjoying ourselves and was eager to answer questions my granddaughter posed to her. Can't wait to bring her older sisters next time!

Fleischmann Planetarium at the University of Nevada, Reno is Northern Nevada's Place for Space, featuring planetarium shows in a 60-seat Dome Theater, an Exhibit Hall, and a Science Store!
Parking is easy and free right next door. It is a small museum so plan to see one of their shows. The show about the solar system lasted about 45 minutes so you can easily do the museum show and then head to the Museum of Art.

Several of our older kids saw the Real Bodies exhibit when it came to Dallas many years ago. For the rest of us, Real Bodies at Bally’s was our first exposure. I still have mixed feelings about it. The idea that everything in this exhibit used to belong to a real, living and breathing person is a little macabre. Yet the anatomical science on display here is a fascinating testimony to the human body’s incredible design (and, in our mind, Designer). For a family with as many medical ties as we have — two doctors, two dentists, an ICU nurse, and several more preparing now for similar professions — it was easy enough to quell the repulsion and appreciate the educational opportunity. Real Bodies gives visitors a peek at some of the same things medical and dental students get to see when they dissect human cadavers, but without any of the mess or smell. They also highlight a lot of interesting facts and statistics. For instance, did you know that… …there are around 60 trillion cells in the human body? …100 million of your cells die and are replaced every minute? …the volume of air you breathe each day can fill approximately seven hot air balloons? …your circulatory system is comprised of nearly 100,000 miles of arteries, capillaries, and veins? …the human brain contains 100 billion neurons and over 45 miles of nerve networks? Neither did I before going through Real Bodies at Bally’s.
