Not just for retirees and theme park enthusiasts, the Sunshine State offers beautiful beaches, pristine diving conditions, and sizzling nightlife. Salsa the night away in a smokin’ hot Miami club, or swing away at one of Kissimmee’s many premium golf courses. An airboat tour of the Everglades is an unforgettable adventure – just look out for alligators! For the risk-averse, a lazy day spent on the soft sands of an Emerald Coast beach is as rejuvenating as a spa treatment.

Orlando Science Center

For more than 65 years, Orlando Science Center has been a place that inspires curiosity and exploration. Truly one of the great activities for Orlando families, the Science Center encourages learning in a fun way. There's no better place that combines fun and knowledge all under one roof! For visitors from out of town, Orlando Science Center is a must for your "things to do in Orlando" list. With four floors of exciting exhibits, amazing giant screen and 3D films as well as engaging live programming, the Science Center is the perfect family destination. We're also the ideal rainy day escape!

I've been here several times over the years with my 6 year old. We love it there! There are 4 floors of activities. Currently, they have a superhero exhibit my son loved. The Dino digs, weather experiments, indoor playground and animals (alligators, turtles etc.) are also always a hit. We always eat at Subway when we are there as that has always been the only food option. However, this time I was happy to see they opened a coffee shop that had a few snack options in it. Expect to spend the day there. We were there 5 hours. We always get there when they open at 10am to get the best parking by the entrance in the parking garage and to avoid some of the crowds. $5 to park. They have a nice gift shop, but it's overpriced. The only problem about visiting in the summer is all of the groups of camps/daycares that take up all of the exhibits. The staff at OSC were very helpful however.

Marine Science Center

At the Marine Science Center our main goal is rescue, rehabilitation and release of sick and injured turtles and birds. You can see our sea turtle patients from the turtle terrace and get a behind the scenes view through the hospital viewing window. In the gallery, guests will also take a journey through Florida marine ecosystems discovering the animals that are indigenous to this area. A hands-on experience awaits you at our stingray and invertebrate touch tanks. Explore the nature trail and climb the observation tower for views of the estuary. Don't forget to walk through the Mary Keller Bird Sanctuary. Here you will see our permanent resident birds that can no longer live in the wild. We offer daily animal education presentations where you will experience up close views of raptors and reptiles. Call for daily presentation times.

If you have young kids or even teenagers, this is a nice, educational opportunity to experience some marine life like sea turtles and sting rays, lion horses , an octopus and other kids of fish. This rehabilitation center is very fun to learn about how the center rehabs these animals. The kids also get to feed them with the assistance of the workers . Great experience and the cost is a bargain! $5 for adults and $2-3 for children. The venue is small , can get crowded at times, parking is a bit challenging to find , a small gift shop also; otherwise a must go even for adults. I’d give it a 4.5 star out of 5 only bc of parking.

While admission and interpretive tours are free, donations are accepted and contribute to Harbor Branch outreach initiatives. Group visits (10 or more people) are also available and must be reserved in advance.

The graduate students that are the tour guides are very knowledgeable and informative. Kids as well as adults will enjoy the touch tank. Lots of really neat sea critters to see and touch. It's amazing what this research has done to continue finding new medical cures. They also have an awesome tour of the campus you can take on a golf cart and after hurricane season passes the lagoon tours will start up. An affordable gift shop is there to get a souvenir of your experience!

Pensacola MESS Hall

The Pensacola MESS Hall is a hands on science museum dedicated to the need to "mess around" with math, engineering, science, and other stuff. Visitors explore science by creating their own experiments, whether at our stationary exhibits or with our "mess kits". Mess kits are individual activities for creating tools for discovery, many with take home parts for future learning. The entire family will make discoveries together.

The Mess Hall is an incredible destination for any visitor or native of Pensacola / Pensacola Beach or any where with in a drive. A mix of art and science - but 100% fun for all ages. It’s a great stop to burn an hour, or make it an all day trip (especially if it’s raining on your beach vacation!). There’s plenty to do and the staff is fun, helpful and engaged. Parents can easily observe or join in the fun. Plus a unique gift shop full of more fun to take home. It’s close to downtown shops and restaurants but plenty of free parking. This is a must-do!!
